< Back to Montmartre 1 Bedroom — Houdon
Here is what some of our clients have to say about Haven in Paris & their stay in:
Houdon
We returned home last Wednesday after having a wonderful stay in the Houdon Apartment. The apartment was quite lovely, spacious and comfortable. The views were pretty and we greatly enjoyed the village of Montmartre. We would absolutely love to use your services again. Being at Houdon was a privledge and a blessing. Thanks for all your help here in the US. We appreciate it. It really was an amazing experience and my family just LOVED the appartment. |

We really enjoyed the Houdon apartment. Its comfortable, tidy but lived-in feeling really enhanced our stay in Paris. We felt quite at home, and really enjoyed feeling part of the neighborhood. Evelyne, our greeter, was really lovely and quite helpful. In addition to getting us acquainted with the ins and outs of the apartment she spent more than an hour with us annotating a map of Paris and making recommendations on where to go and what to see based on our interests. Her insider's knowledge of the city is very impressive. She was also responsive in replacing a broken computer mouse, and the times when we bumped into her now and then on the street made us feel like we had a friend looking out for us. In terms of things to improve, you might mention more prominently that the apartment is five flights up. I did find this information in some of the web comments from previous guests before our trip, but just ran across it incidentally. In our case, it was a concern due to my wife's arthritis, but we made the decision to go ahead anyway. (**Note from HiP: We have now made this fact more obvious on the apartment web page. Thank you for pointing it out, David!) We hope to use your service again, and have already recommended it to others. All the best. |

We just returned yesterday from Paris and I'm just recovering from jet lag and the shock of returning to work. I just wanted to tell you again how impressed we are with your organization and how easy you made it for us to feel at home. Erica, what a wonderful apartment! The bed was comfy and we loved the fluffy towels! We enjoyed drinking wine at the little table on the balcony and watching the sun set at 10:30! Not used to the day being so long. We will recommend you to all our friends and in the future we'd like to visit your residences in the south of France. Cheers. |

We had a fabulous time at the Houdon property in Paris- great location for the village vibe of Montmartre yet peaceful. The apartment was spotless with a very comfy bed, crisp sheets, fluffy towels and a well equipped kitchen of deceptively good size. Having the computer was great for planning days in Paris and the library of books was an added bonus! We had many lovely meals in the apartment and in the neighbourhood, we miss it already! We would love to return to the apartment and recommend both the property and Haven in Paris. Hotels no more!! Why HiP? I was very impressed by the 'high end' website, the reviews and how quickly my questions were answered |

The Houdon apartment was everything we had hoped for and more. Evelyne (our greeter) was lovely - she made us feel very welcome. She explained everything about the apartment and even took us around the area to show us where to buy food and where to eat. The roses & wine were a beautiful touch. It was bitterly cold during our week in Paris but the apartment was so warm and comfortable. And having a computer with internet access was great - so helpful. Apart from the cold, the entire experience was fantastic - we are already planning our next trip back. We will definitely stay in another HIP apartment. Why HiP? Your website was one of the best I found on the internet, the photos of the apartments were fantastic. I felt most comfortable using HIP - a very professional organisation. I have already recommended HIP to friends & family and we will definitely use you again. |

I had hoped for a comfortable home away from home in a neighborhood so that I could be in Paris, not a tourist in Paris. The Houdon flat was perfectly situated in Montmartre, with easy access to shops and the Metro, not to mention the tastes and colors of the area. The apartment was superbly equipped, and the view over the roofs of Paris to the top of L'Arc de Triomphe just provided the icing on the cake. Evelyne (my greeter) was great. She gave me a tour of the apartment and specific instructions on the washer and dryer, etc. Then she walked me around the neighborhood, pointing out places to shop and eat, among other things. She was very helpful with suggestions on things to do and out-of-the-way sites to visit. She and her husband invited me for an aperitif chez eux, and that was an added bonus. You helped make me feel at home from the first phone calls and first look at the website, and it only got better from there. I'll be back! Merci. Why HiP? While the original contact was through Joel Berman, everything about the contact with Erica and crew sold me on HIP. I've already been recommending you to friends and family, and have begun plotting with my wife for a return to Paris. Merci! |

I had a terrific stay in the Houdon apartment. It felt a little strange at first to be in an apartment that was so obviously lived in, but because of that the apartment felt much more looked after and added to the feeling of actually being a little part of a little part of Paris for a short while! The apartment itself was lovely and the kitchen was so well equipped it was a pleasure to use. We decided to have Christmas in the apartment and had a lovely lunch and dinner with friends. The fold out bed was terrific and all in all it was a terrific choice, because as you say making a decision based on internet information is risky. Our greeter, Evelyn, was lovely and brought her husband to help with the luggage up the stairs, as both my companion and I have recently had operations which make lugging heavy suitcases unsuitable! She explained everything about the apartment and took me on a tour of the location to show me where everything was, and made sure we were comfortable. Most importantly, the apartment was beautifully warm! I would have no hesitation in recommending your site to anyone, and am grateful to Henrietta Taylor, who recommended it to me! Thanks once again. Your booking operation is well organised and runs smoothly. Regards, and Happy New Year |

We have loved spending our honeymoon at the Houdon apartment, We had everything we needed and more. The Kitchen was extremely well stocked with all the equipment you could ever need, and the cupboards full of essentials (herbs, spices, sauces, coffee, and as many different teas as i have ever seen!!) Our Greeter was lovely, we would recommend this apartment to anyone. |

I have just returned from Europe and I must admit that my favorite part of my trip was staying in your apartment in Paris all alone for an entire week. If I did not have two wonderful daughters waiting at home for me, I would have stayed forever. I have always love Paris and the apartment was exactly what I was looking for. I loved the neighborhood, the five flights up (except for my luggage), the Paris rooftop view, the bed by the window, the amazing wood floors, the artwork and the book selection. I would say the only very small suggestion would be better lighting in the living room, but that could just be my old eyes and the fact that I was knitting with dark colored wool. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and chatting with Evelyne (my greeter). She was warm and friendly and very helpful. So again, thank you for the grand stay. It is a memory I will recall often. Happy Holidays. |

We cannot say enough good things about this apartment, and about Haven In Paris. They took such good care of us while we were there. Erica even helped arrange a photographer to take some beautiful engagement pictures. We enjoyed everything and would return in a heartbeat! Thank you! Why HiP? Much research on the internet and kind emails from Erica. |
The Apt was very charming. Hopefully we can book something in the future. |
We were very apprehensive about renting a property over the internet versus staying at a reputable hotel. The HIP experience was outstanding - service was excellent and very organized. The Houdon property was amazing - great value and very well located being only a block from the metro. Nice quite street yet close to all the action. After a long day of sightseeing it is nice to come back to a place with lots of room to kick back, relax, and enjoy another bottle of wine. Computer with internet access was also a nice touch. Thanks for everything - we will definitely use HIP on our next journey. Why HiP? We found HIP on the Internet and the website made it look credible. With regards to the Houdon property, the only thing that we wanted to point out is that we were given a code to meet the greeter in the building at 7am, however, the code does not work from 11pm to 8am meaning we had to stand outside. Not a big deal, just wanted to mention it. (NOTE from Erica: We will alert all future clients that before 8am they will need to arrange with their greeter to come down and let them in as a key is needed.) |
I cannot imagine a more seamless visit to Paris. Our greeter went out of her way to settle us into the apartment and introduce us to the neighborhood. I felt completely at home and soon was referring to "my apartment". We particularly loved watching the play of light in the late evening through the large windows and from the balcony after a day spent walking the city. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Why HiP? Availability, location, and prompt and friendly correspondance. |
Loved the apt,the ease of making all the arrangements etc. The area, once we found Abbesses was great. Callie had her hang out at the cafe reading her book experience she wanted, and I felt it ok for her to be up there.. Until dark of course! Greeters both Evelyne and Kyra were great. My calves are in great shape! Enjoyed it all very much. I am missing my chocolate croissants! Thanks so much...I did love going up the hill for those... ok well sending Gary up the hill. I have already suggested you on Fodors Talk... Ps Eric said to say HI (Cookin' with Class)... loved the cooking class.. We also did the Hidden Kitchen.. that was excellent. |
We loved staying at Rue Houdon! We will recommend Haven in Paris to friends and colleagues traveling to France, and we may even return ourselves in the next year or two. The Haven in Paris staff were really kind and helpful Your place has a lovely vibe and we really enjoyed the neighborhood! (I have stayed in Paris before but never in Montmartre)." |
This was a first trip to Paris for a Mother and 18yo daughter. We prefer staying in homes/flats vs hotels on vacation. Houdon was perfect and we felt like residents of Montmartre for the week. We loved the area and convenience of the Metro stops. Our greeter was lovely and available for any suggestions/information. The flat was comfortable with anything you could possibly need. The computer with internet access was so valuable! Other highlights of our trip: Fat Tire Bike Tours (day trip in Paris and day in Versailles), evening concert at Sainte-Chappelle and cooking class with Cook'n With Class (found through link with HIP) When we plan a visit again, our first call will be to HIP! Why HiP? I think I originally found you through VRBO website but your website is so well done with so much information and great photos of the flats. My questions were answered quickly and I know I talked with Erica at least once or twice. You offer a lot of amenities not found in other rentals. Evelyne was wonderful. I think she wondered why we didn't utilize her more...we ran from morning til night and by nature pretty low maintence. But we knew she was there for us. Thank you. |
The owner stayed in excellent connect with us throughout the whole process when we were deciding where to stay. She was honest and a great help. The actual apartment was clean, homey, and comfortable. Our greeter Evelyne was amazing as she answered all of our questions, was extremely friendly and welcoming, and continued to stay in contact with us and help in any way our whole trip. We had everything we could need and more at the apartment not mention how nicely it was decorated. Our trip was excellent in part to having a wonderful place to come home to at the end of an exhausting day. If we ever go back to Paris we will not have to think twice about where to stay. Why HiP? We saw the website online and contacted the owner (Erica Berman)with our dates which happened to be available. The apartment looked very nice online and had enough space for our family. But the real reason we ended up staying there was because Erica stayed in constant connection with us and was willing to answer all of our questions. She was well- organized and kind. We never felt rushed about making our decision and she was honestly just a doll throughout the whole process which ended up being very easy. |

Your apartment was great – wouldn’t change a thing (I would have bought it myself as its in the perfect spot). Your greeter, Evelyne, was great also – very helpful and she was there if you needed her. I know my way around pretty well so I’m not the typical case but I could tell she was concerned and legitimately friendly (it wasn’t an act). I would say of all the apartment rentals I’ve had in Paris, this was the best (and I’ve had 20-30 supposed “high end” apartments). |
I have stayed in apartment rentals all over Paris since 1990 - the city has come of age with modernity in accommodation but rentals are a complete roll of the dice. Not with Haven in Paris. If you are coming to Paris for the first time or for the tenth time, I strongly recommend you leave the worry behind and let the professional staff at HIP do all the work. The apartment at Rue Houdon is one of the best I have stayed in - it is the perfect accommodation to explore the city but you still feel like a local. It is very close to the Metro, it is modern, clean, comfortable and everything is there for you including a view over the rooftops of the city and even voltage/wattage converters so you can leave yours at home. Of most importance, EVERYTHING WORKS to a high standard (not what you will find in other apartments that claim to be renovated). A+ all around. |
We've been back from Paris less than two weeks and I've already recommended HIP to three other people. The apartment was squeaky clean, comfortable and full of art. The bed was especially comfy. We immediately felt at home. Every detail was considered - there was even coffee in the cupboard when we got there! We will come back to Paris and to this apartment and we will use HIP for travels to other parts of the world, as well. I've used other apartment rental on-line services but will use HIP in the future because they offer a much better value and quality of apartment. Why HiP? Our travel agent made this reservation for us. |

My 2 month trip to Paris was a wonderful experience for me. Having raised a family and been a hard worker all my life, it was sublime to have the time to experience the city and myself, relatively alone and without work. The apartment played a large part in my comfort level. It is comfortable, convenient, the views from both sides are lovely. The kitchen is terrific - all the equipment easy to use and high quality. (I'm a gas stove cook, but thought your electric was about as good as electric can get.) The bedroom is quiet, the bed just right. Even my very fussy husband thought so. The stairs were not a problem, except for moving in and out, of course. I am most grateful for the climbs, having eaten like a pig and actually lost weight during my stay. I could get anywhere in the city from the two Metro lines close by - easily. Most of all, the light in the apartment on sunny days is superb. I did take a cooking class from Eric (www.cooknwithclass.com) and enjoyed it very much. He is a good teacher - just the right mix of direction, enjoyment, and laissez faire. Without the class, I never would have discovered the beautiful market, cheese shop, butcher, and fish monger, near to Jules Joffrin. I did join a gym, cercles de la forme, and was welcomed and very comfortable working out there. The language school I attended, E.L.F.E, in the 9th off Rue Ballu, is very good, a lovely location and an easy 10-15 minute walk from the apartment. Very expensive, but they all are. I would recommend Haven in Paris to family and friends wholeheartedly. I have heard some horrifying stories of rentals, but I was well taken care of and had a delightful stay. It was very hard to leave - that is the most sincere praise for your lovely place. I'm sure I'll be coming back and will be in touch when my plans are clear. |
We had a terrific time while in Paris and a lot of what made it that way was having your apartment as our "base of operations". Let me say how much we really enjoyed the apartment, the neighborhood, and, most importantly, your suggestions and recommendations. After a very short time we were residents rather than merely visitors and it was mainly due to your guidance and advice. Thank you so very much -- it was right on! Along with that, Kyra( our greeter) reinforced everything you recommended and clued us in to a few other things. Moving in (and, unfortunately, moving out) was a breeze, and her introduction to the apartment and neighborhood smoothed the way for us in all respects. We also appreciate her arranging our ride to the gare upon our departure. All the best, |
The only reason my rating for "property meet up to your expectations" was only "better" and not "excellent" is that the website does such a great job of describing the apartment that our expectations were already high. We were in Montmartre for a week in the first half of June. The location was great; the apartment was just as we had hoped; the trip was wonderful. I highly recommend Haven in Paris as an organization to contact. The notebook provided in the apartment was very useful both for instructions on how to use appliances provided (washer, dryer, stove, etc.) and for the pointers it provided to restaurants and stores in the area. Why HiP? I found your website well organized and informative. For me this was the clincher in deciding to use your group. Once I got into the reservation process I was impressed with the professional nature of the interaction. This allayed any concerns I had about renting through the internet. |
Erica, You have set up a wonderful operation! From the beginning I was impressed when you responded back immediately on a Sunday no less to let me know of available properties. Houdon is charming, larger than we anticipated. Having the Macintosh computer made staying in touch with family very easy. This is my first experience staying in an apartment while traveling. It's great, allowing much flexibility. The one take away I have is that you don't need to pack as much when there is a washer and dryer available to you. Next time I will save the back and pack lighter. I intend to come again with my Mother and will again choose to stay in one of HIPs apartments! PS: Chris also was impressed! We had a wonderful holiday made even better by the accommodation we enjoyed at your apartment in Paris. We traveled to other cities and stayed in other apartments and Paris was the best. I was especially impressed that you seemed to anticipate the questions we might have and there was so much information on the city and the area. I would have no problem renting from you again and would certainly recommend it to my friends and family. |

Apartment living is the way to stay and this rue Houdon was, let's say, perfect for us. We shall return to Paris and we'll most definitely look first with Haven in Paris. Thanks Erica for your very good taste (loved your art and comfortable linens et al) and to Kyra for your assistance with tips and so on. We really did have a wonderful time, due in no small part to our stay in your abode. As a North American tourist, I think that the way in which you run things and, follow up on things, is well done. We found Kyra to be very, very helpful and certainly appreciated that she let us know that we could contact her any time that we needed to. Also, Elysee Cars were tops... and we are so glad that we took your advice to make those arrangements - ground transportation to and from the airport couldn't have been smoother for us!This was great and just a Google away! A Bientot and merci! |
Apartment living suits us much better than does a hotel stay, for anything more than a couple of days. Haven in Paris is a very efficient, professional organization and made the process painless. God is in the details and the important ones, for us, were provided for. There are 93 steps to this apartment, but you'll love what awaits you. A very light, clean, airy, creative space. The birds in the courtyard in the back were always singing and the bells in the local Basilica were often chiming... we loved Paris in the springtime and this rue Houdon apartment. When we return, we'll definitely look first with Haven in Paris! |
Rue Houdon is truly a "Haven in Paris". The apartment is very comfortable and in such a great location. The restaurant recommendations in your useful information guide were excellent. We had great meals at Le restaurant and Le Grand Colbert. Having the Internet has made our stay very easy. It enabled us to do research on places we needed to go within Paris. Additionally having Kyra to greet us was wonderful. She showed us around the apartment and was very helpful with questions that we had upon arriving in Paris. We will definitely be back to Paris in the future and will make our home for our Paris trip at either rue Houdon or one of the other Haven in Paris properties.Thank you for having a place that makes you feel right at home when you are so far away. |
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Paris and staying in this apartment. Everything was exactly as pictured on the website, and the apartment was even more comfortable and welcoming than it appeared on the site. Erica's recommendations were all spot-on as far as the type of restaurant, locations, etc. The location was great for getting around the city, and there were lots of options for a quick dinner out or to prepare your own. The reservation process was simple and quick. I had been apprehensive about renting an apartment over the internet, but my experience with Haven in Paris was exceptional and I am glad I did! I will definitely be back and have recommended this site to everyone I know. |
Being our first trip outside of the US, we were not sure what to expect going to Paris. The reservation process with HIP was easy and all of our questions were answered in a timely manner. At the apartment, Kyra was a great help and very pleasant welcome. She answered all of our questions, gave wonderful advice and was available if we needed anything as well as checked in with us during our stay. The location of the apartment is great with the Metro stations nearby and all of the Montmartre offerings. We thouroughly enjoyed our week in Paris and will rent from HIP when we return. |
I can't say enough about the apartment. I fell in love with it on the website when I first came across it and it feels like home. Coming here has re-inspired me in my career as a designer - I love the textiles here there is a richness that we don't really see at home too much. The library of interior books, like my collection is many and some I now have to add! I wish I had more time and money to bring more things back. Anyway, long story short I love it here. Montmartre couldn't have been a better place to stay and getting around has been easy. Here is the link the my Paris blog with photos of this apartment and comments from my trip: www.soulstorming.com |

We thoroughly enjoyed the flat. It was very comfortable and homey. You have decorated it very nicely. We loved your very detailed and specific instructions on how to use everything in the flat. We rented several other apartments none of which gave even a verbal explanation of the appliances. We LOVED the dryer and are trying to locate one with a similiar water drainage system to buy for our own home. Kyra, our greeter, was wonderful. Kind, thoughtful, helpful and informative. Very bright pleasant young woman. She's a perfect up front contact for this business. Overall, our Paris stay was my favorite, I'm sure to a great degree because of the comfort of your flat. Thanks so much for renting your flat to us. If we return we will contact you for sure, as well as pass on the recommendation to anyone we know travelling that way. |
We loved this apartment! It's as adorable as the pictures suggest, and we were very very pleased. Having 2 Metro stops within a block of apt also gave us easy and quick access to anywhere in Paris! I truly will never stay in a hotel in Paris again. Our greeter (Kyra) was wonderful, and made us feel right at home. The apt had everything.. modern appliances, plenty of space, lots of reading matieral and maps, and plenty of nice little touches throughout... loved the welcome fresh flowers and wine! Thanks so much for sharing your apt with us... it really made our stay in Paris exceptional! |
We both want to thank you, and your associates, for making our stay in Paris such a wonderful experience. The apartment was perfect for our first visit, and your recommended car service provided us with excellent time saving service. Carrie was wonderful, helping us get settled and to feel like "guests". The "peace of mind" we felt, knowing someone was there to assist, is a big part of what made our Paris visit so memorable. We look forward to visiting again soon. Again, thank you for being a part of a lifetime memory for us. |
What a wonderful experience! Anyone who wants to live like a Parisian should absolutely stay in this apartment. I truly felt like I was at home (but with much better kitchen appliances than I actually have at home). The location was perfect (two métro stations within arm's reach!), and Montmartre is such a great place - truly a village. Of course, without all the great people at HIP, the best apartment in Paris would mean nothing. Erica and Alain are the ultimate hosts who went out of their way to make sure my stay was exceptional. And Kyra (my greeter) was delightful, and did everything possible to ensure I was comfortable in the apartment. |
I want to thank you so much for making our trip to Paris perfect! You were very helpful through the whole reservation process, and even while we were in Paris our greeter was available for any questions we had. The flat was comfortable and immaculate- it was like a home away from home. I will strongly recommend Havin in Paris to my friends...and I'll be back as well. |
This was our first trip to Paris and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The apartment was perfect for the three of us - my wife, daughter and me; much more comfortable and relaxed for an extended stay than a hotel. The apartment was light and airy and very quiet - just what we were looking for. The decor and artwork gave it a nice homey feel and the balcony view was great. The remodeled bathroom was comfy and unique and the kitchen well stocked. Erica was very attentive from the initial rental through our stay in Paris and Carrie did an excellent job of meeting us and introducing us to the apartment and the neighborhood. Enjoying the lively Montmartre neighborhood was a real treat, and getting to the inner city was an easy metro ride. |
I loved the Paris apartment. My husband and daughters had a wonderful stay in the apartment and loved the Montemarte area! The town was so charming and the restaurants you recommended were excellent. I did not personally meet Carrie but Steve said she was helpful and professional. She returned our calls promptly and she helped my girls with their questions and concerns. I loved the art work and the layout of the flat. The kitchen was easy to cook in and the bathroom very modern and beautiful. I would rent the apartment again and will encourage my friends to stay in that flat or one of the other flats you have. We had such a wonderful time in Paris and staying in the Houdon flat made even more enjoyable. |
L'appartement etait tres tres sympa est Carrie, our greeter etait tres genial! |
We had a spectacular time in the apartment and loved the light, airy feeling of the apartment and its wonderful roof top views. The apartment was very well equipped and it felt comfortable, warm and welcoming. We felt like we were "home". We felt the 93 steps justified and extra croissant and when you're in Paris, eating all the extraordinary food, every bit of exercise helps. . We also had an excellent introduction to the place from Carrie. We definitely plan to rent the apartment again on our next visit---we love the neighbor as well. |
The process of renting the flat was easy, I appreciated the quick replies to my emails and being able to pay by check before arriving. One thing that would have help me during my stay would have been the offer of a wake-up call on departure day. I changed apartments 4 days into my stay and therefore was in vacation mode and didn't think to set an alarm. This made departing a scramble. The apartment and location were charming. Thank you - Maureen Maclise (Haven in Paris Note: We are always very happy to give our clients a wake up call .... please feel free to ask us anytime. Otherwise, we keep an alarm clock in the flat for just this purpose...Sorry for the confusion!) |
Wonderful experience...far exceeds staying in a hotel!Montmartre location was superb and extremely convenient for the rest of Paris. We have already recommended Haven in Paris to several friends and will certainly be returning ourselves. In short, great neighbourhood, great apartment and great service from everyone involved.....thank you for adding considerably to our Paris experience. |
The apartment was even nicer than it looked in the pictures. It had a charming, home-like feeling, and was spacious, comfortable, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The location was great, close to the subway and in a very nice neighborhood. The kitchen appliances were significantly better than what I have typically encountered in Europe, and it was great to have internet access too. As noted on the web site, it is a 5th floor walk-up, which would be challenging for anyone unused to physical activity, but for everyone else it is a great option I would highly recommend. |
I booked the Houdon apartment to share with a colleague during a week-long conference at La Sorbonne. I have been to Paris several times and I was hoping to immerse myself in the local culture rather than play the role of a tourist once again. Given the apartment's location and the time of year (July), we expected hoardes of tourists, but this wasn't the case (as a tourist myself, maybe I'm being hypocritical!). We watched World Cup finals in a bar with local residents, and we all cried when Zidane got the red card. The apartment was a perfect solution for a Euro wannabe. It's in a quiet, residential building conveniently located between two metro stops on a street that is relatively quiet (except during World Cup matches, thankfully!). Small, late-night grocery stores and excellent bakeries are within a few steps of the apartment, as is the charming Rue des Abbesses, loaded with cafes and unique shops. We ate at Chez Grisette, which is right next door, and the owner treated us like kings. Try the foie gras, boudin, and terrine. You can't miss. As far as the apartment itself, let me just say that it exceeds the seductive photos on the web site. The balcony view is outstanding, there is a constant cool breeze on the hottest of days, the shower is riduculously pampering for Paris, the appliances are modern, and there was a bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge. Even the pull-out bed was comfortable. Would I rent it again? What do you think?! I was selfishly tempted not to write this review, just so I could keep the place a secret. |
Great apartment in a dynamic area of Paris. The apartment's interior design was great-- urban-modern, comfortable, and clean. Also, the apartment was easily accessable-- only a half-block from the Pigalle Metro Station. |
Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Rue Houdon. Thanks for all your help. |
I had never stayed in an apartment before during my visits to Paris. But now that I have, I will never go back to hotel stays. The Rue Houdon apartment made my visit in Paris much more personal and relaxing. The owner ensured every detail of our stay was comfortable. The place was cozy, clean and convenient. I didn't want to leave. |
Rue Houdon is perfect for travel aficionados looking to immerse themselves in a true Parisian setting. The apartment is wonderful – cozy and charming with old wooden floors that creak monstrously but lend beautifully to the quaintness of the area. Erica is a meticulous flat rental owner; she left behind a warehouse of helpful information, including detailed instructions on using the washer/dryer/dishwasher. The bathroom was utterly divine with a huge showerhead and anyone who has stood under the trickle of a creaky European shower will appreciate the monumental importance of a decent bathroom. I highly, highly recommend staying here! I don’t think I could stay in a hotel after this! |

My Mom and I spent almost a week at Erica’s apartment. We had a great time there. The apartment itself is most pleasant, very spacious and light. We loved the decoration and were especially impressed by the extravagant bathroom. The living room looks onto the street but is not noisy at all. The bedroom is on the courtyard side and it is perfectly quiet. It is a cozy and homey apartment where you feel at ease right away. The apartment is situated in one of the loveliest neighborhoods of Paris; Abbesses , which is my favorite area in the city. It is a 2 minutes walk to the charming Abbesses square, the rue Lepic with its lively market, shops and restaurants. At the other end of the street is the bustle of Pigalle, with plenty of cafés, exotic little restaurants, etc. The Sacre Coeur is also very close. The apartment is also very well situated as far as public transport is concerned. You can choose between the metro stations Abbesses or Pigalle and one of the most scenic buses of Paris, the 67, that crosses the whole city , has its stop at the bottom of the street. Erica’s apartment is the perfect place to enjoy everything Paris has to offer and unwind after a tiring day in the city. It is both comfortable and stylish and I am sure anybody staying there will have a wonderful time, just as we had. |

This lovely apartment is quiet and comfortable. The beautiful kitchen has everything and more. The living room is perfect if you need to withdraw yourself from busy Paris. Paris is right downstairs. This "quartier" on the slope of Montmartre seems almost unknown by tourists. The small shops, bars and restaurants, almost exclusively visited by locals, are among the nicest places in Paris. M. I have been thinking about my stay in Monmartre. One of the things that made it most wonderful was the apartment we stayed in. It was light and airy and beautiful. The doors that opened from floor to ceiling leading out to the small terraces where we could have our morning coffee, and where we could have our evening glass of wine while watching the sunset...I loved the antique fixtures on all the windows, the earthiness of opening and closing the wooden doors to the terrace. We got used to the 98 steps up to the apartment. It was our workout after sampling the French pastries. We are New Yorkers so we were not upset by the sex industry one block away. We found it really amusing the way old ladies with their canvas bags with bread and cheese just walked by the porno shops, families sat in a cafe' next door to a burlesque house. I loved walking the winding blocks up and down in Monmartre. I will always stay in Monmartre from now on, it is so much more funky that the left bank, and the subways are very easy to get all over Paris. I loved the subway station with its painted murals, and the apartment was heavenly. There are breezes all times of the day, looking out the windows and watching the light hit the different buildings, seeing the clay rooftops added so much to our trip. I would recommend this wonderful apartment to anyone that is willing to make the trip up the 98 steps to get there. well worth it! i know I will be back! |

It was the first time we decided to try to rent an apartment in a foreign country so we were naturally hesistant. We read all the positive testimonials and found Erica to be friendly and reassuring in emails and on the phone, so we went ahead with it. We're very glad we did! Everything was as promised - the location, the value, and the experience were all great. It was so much fun to meet Erica in person (who graciously got us all the apartment and Paris information we'd ever need), and then live for a week in a beautiful Montmartre apartment, steps away from shops and two different Metro lines. |

As I arrived at Rue Houdon after a long day of travel, and settled into the comforting atmosphere of Erica Berman's fifth-story apartment, I knew instantly that I'd made the best decision on accommodation for my two-week stay in Paris. Erica prepared lunch of fresh salad, cheese and warm baguette for my colleagues and me while we all relaxed with glasses of wine and took in the broad swath of the city visible from the flower and herb-lined balcony of her flat. Erica instantly put us all at ease, talking to us about good local restaurants for all occasions and price ranges, weekend markets and shops throughout the city for any and everything we could want to buy during our stay, and passing along secrets of the city surely never to cross the lips of any hotel concierge. Erica's presence is familiar, professional and reassuring; ultimately more personal than any hotel or resort staff could ever be. We were provided with all the amenities of home and after only a day, I'd settled into the flat as though it was my own secret pied-a-terre where I'd escaped for the autumn. Every aspect of our stay, from the beds to the kitchen to the collection of books in the shelves along the wall leading to the balcony view of the city, was perfect. After my experience with Erica's property and service there is no way I'll ever stay in a hotel in Paris ever again because Paris is a city that needs to be lived in to experience it fully, and settling into the creature comforts provided by Ms. Berman is the surest way to experience the magic of the city as it was intended. There is, quite simply, no substitute. Will Sullivan Journalist Will Sullivan email: w-sullivan5 (at) northwestern.edu |

Our stay in the apartment on rue Houdon was very comfortable and convenient. Setting out on foot or via Metro to explore Paris could not have been easier. We were given a useful orientation to the apartment and the area by Alain, who was gracious and congenial. Any questions we had during our stay were quickly answered by Alain or Erica. We particularly enjoyed the Paris views from the balcony and living room, the well equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed and everything we needed for light housekeeping. The Abbesses area of Montmartre, which was at our doorstep,is charming, lively and convenient for our shopping needs, both fine and funky restaurants and more than enough cafes. We felt very safe staying here. All in all, this was a delightful place to have as a base in Paris. |
