About
This Space

This charming Provence vacation villa is located at the heart of a 50-acres (20 hectares) family-owned vineyard on the outskirts of the small but reputable village of Cairanne, one of the leading producers of the Southern Rhône Valley. This Provençale-style "mas" (a traditional farmhouse) is the perfect short-term rental for your stay in Southern France. The converted stables dating from the mid-19th century make up the main house. This is bordered by the old winery and ancillary buildings, all lying in the midst of luscious vineyards, fruit orchards, and olive groves.

Just a mile from the center of the village of Cairanne, this two-bedroom property is one half of a two-winged Provençal villa, and can sleep up to five guests (or up to 10 guests, when the whole villa is rented together as a five-bedroom). The Cairanne two-bedroom property proposes a comfortable and inviting space, perfect for friends, families, or romantic getaways. The bedrooms, each with its own en suite half bath, offer air conditioning and a king-sized bed that can be split into two singles. One of the bedrooms also have a daybed for additional sleeping space (at extra cost). On the ground level, there is a living room, fully equipped kitchen, and dining area.

The owners of this gorgeous, sustainable property have paid careful attention to detail. Assisted by an interior architect when restoring the stables, they had an eye for balancing authenticity, comfort, and country simplicity. Traditional touches meet contemporary architecture, with large bay windows throughout the villa, which contribute to the luminous atmosphere.

A path leading from the central courtyard gives access to the gardens and to the swimming-pool: a long, discreet lap pool hidden among hundred-year-old olive trees. You can relax and cool down surrounded by Rhône Valley vineyards, overlooking Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail - some of the most magical locations of the region.

Your hosts, Nick and Sabine - both passionate about Provence history, tradition, food, and wine culture - will be delighted to welcome you and are able to propose rich experiences, both at the villa and throughout the region. As well as private wine tours that Nick organizes for the villa (for an additional fee), he can also guide you to discover premium quality wines from the world-renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Sabine, a Provence native who loves cooking local Provençal food, is available and happy to cook for you during your stay. (Please inquire for more details.) Cooking classes with a private chef can also be arranged in your villa.

About Cairanne and the region
Your Provence home is located in the 8th century settlement of Cairanne, a Cru Classé village in the heart of the world-renowned Côtes-du-Rhône region, on the famous Route des Vins. The small village sits on a hill with a view southwards overlooking the vineyard plains. For wine aficionados and serious connoisseurs, this is the perfect location; just a short drive to the regions of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and many more.

Thank you to Sabine and Nick for your wonderful hospitality and helpfulness. Our wine tour was one of the best what we've had, personalized, informative, and fun. The dinner was really great, just what we wanted - home cooked provencal food! The house is lovely. What can we say, we had a great time.

My parents and I had a great time at the Cairanne property. This is a great option if you want to have lots of space to relax with your family and enjoy the natural beauty of Provence/Cote du Rhone regions. We went during October so we didn't get to use the swimming pool but had a lovely picnic out on the patio with groceries that we bought at one of the amazing local markets. We enjoyed walking around the property at sunset and taking in the views of the vineyard. This is a good location if you want to explore both Provence and Cote du Rhone because it's accessible from both areas. Most of places we dove to were about 30-60 minutes away which was completely doable. Nick and Sabine we very accommodating and accessible. I highly suggest a wine tour with Nick and one of Sabine's provencal dinners. My family kept talking about how much they enjoyed the dinner days later!

Thank you! What an amazing time!! We want to thank both Nick and Sabine for your hospitality... Until next time.

We can't say enough positive about our stay with Sabine and Nick at the Cairanne 2 BDR property. The entire week was wonderful and we felt so much at home from the moment we arrived until leaving. Sabine had milk, juice, butter in the fridge along with spices, jelly and all one would need to get along cooking just like at home. We would recommend this property and know anyone would love it as much as we did.

Just would like to say that the service from Haven in Paris was excellent. The team answered all questions promptly and where always very helpful. The property was excellent and we had a wonderful stay. Nick and Sabine were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed the wine tour and tasting that Nick gave. We hope to return one day and enjoy the area again.

My family and I stayed a week at this wonderful house in Cairanne. Owners Sabine and Nick were very warm and welcoming. We used the house as a base to explore surrounding areas including Les Baux, Arles, Nimes and Avignon and had a fantastic time. Wish we had time to taste the wine produced at the estate. We will definitely try to return and do that in the future.

I loved EVERYTHING about our stay at the Cairanne property! The quality of the property, warmth and hospitality of the greeters, cleanliness and provisions prepared for us were all outstanding, and quite frankly, beyond our expectations... The pictures of the property do not begin to do it justice. Not only is it larger and more chic than the photos show, but no picture can convey the serenity and quiet elegance of our experience. And, the wine was not bad, either. ;-) Thanks again for everything.

The owners, Nick and Sabine Thompson, were gracious and helpful. The apartment, a 19th century building completely remodeled a few years ago, was spacious and comfortable. The location, in the heart of the Cote du Rhone appellation, was ideal for exploring small towns and villages, and was within easy distance of Avignon and Orange.

Property is situated in a lovely part of Provence and very central to all of the places you night want to see - Avignon, Montpelier etc. Nick and Sabine are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. Accomodation is clean and spacious with everything you could want for a long/short stay. Only one problem is internet access however they (Nick and Sabine) will let you use their computer if you want. It is more convenient to be able to use your own of course. The village only has 1 internet "cafe" (and I use the word loosely) which is open spasmodically. Excellent butcher in the village. Note from Haven in Paris - August 2010: Internet is coming soon to this property. Please inquire and we will let you know if it has arrived.

Haven In Paris made the whole reservation process very easy. Very informative and helpful people. The website is great and compels one to follow through with the rental. The property we rented is in the middle of a wonderful vineyard and is the restored horse barn of a working winery. Well equipped and well furnished providing a comfortable place to spend a week in Provence. The village of Cairanne is very quiet and has few services but there is plenty to do nearby.

We really enjoyed our stay in your beautiful holiday home. The owners did a great job of decorating the place and we would love to come back. We are convinced this place will be a huge success. The owners make great hosts and both have a talent of making people feel at ease and at home. Thank you for that. PS. The wines are really excellent

The villa was incredible. We found the area incredibly peaceful and the owners were very nice and accomodating. The area was beautiful. We loved to go into the small towns and their markets. Also, we found Cairanne to be a charming little town. We had a small issue on one evening when the oven did not work. But the owners came the next morning and immediately fixed it. Finally, I'll tell you we really loved the place and would love to stay there again another time with friends or to stay in one of your other properties in Paris.

Harold & Karin July, 2005 Frankfort, Germany

We really enjoyed our stay. We really relax and hope to come back one day. We take with us the calmness of the countryside, and the feeling of great comfort. Our compliments to your fine style of decorating the house. Best wishes to you and your plans for the future.

Martine & Filip June, 2005 Belgium

Thanks for the "superbe holiday week" in your beautiful guest house! We had a wonderful time. See you soon!
