About
This Space

The Isle-sur-La-Sorgue holiday apartment is a charming second floor, one-bedroom Provence vacation rental in a 17th century building overlooking a lovely square in the very heart of historic Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. This adorable and bustling Provençale town is full of restaurants, shops, and a famous antique market.

The comfortable open space provided by the living room and dining area is picture perfect with its antique wood beams, marble fireplace, hardwood floors, and shutter-framed windows opening onto the quaint village square. Furnished with a mix of 19th century furniture, including a French lit bateau used as a daybed, a series of hand-colored engravings, and a mirror over the fireplace, this Provence vacation rental captures the essence of southern French charm.

The fully-equipped country style kitchen includes everything you need to take full advantage of the richly varied and abundant produce from the local, open-air Provençal markets. The bedroom is elegantly furnished with a romantic canopied bed and the highest quality linens. The bathroom is en suite and has a large shower, while the WC is separate from the bathroom for your privacy and convenience.

This is the ideal home base for enjoying the simple joys of Provençal life: walk through the square in the morning to one of several excellent bakers or cafes, buy fresh produce at the market, and enjoy the languid and relaxing summer days away from the bustle of city life.

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and the area

This delightful town has always been a favorite in the region, thanks to its enormous weekend antiques market, but what truly sets it apart is that unlike many of the hill-top villages nearby, its plentiful shops, cafes, and restaurants keep the local atmosphere lively by staying open throughout the year.

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is also ideally situated for exploring Provence and the Luberon. It is close to several beautiful historic cities and cultural centers: Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Orange, Nîmes, and Arles all of which are less than an hour’s drive away.
Founded in the 11th century and built on an island, the old town has a strong medieval character with its slanted walls, hidden courtyards, and winding streets, several of which are too narrow for cars. L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is now best known as an antiques center, the largest in Provence, with three hundred dealers forming an impressive antique market on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The weekly Sunday antiques market is combined with a traditional French country market selling local produce, cheese, fruit, vegetables, meats, oil, and wine.

We really enjoyed our stay here! This is a charming apartment that makes you feel right at home in the beautiful town of I'sle Sur La Sorgue. I loved falling asleep each night to the soft glow of the street lights illuminating the church. The town itself has many fabulous restaurants and stores to shop at. The outdoor food/clothing markets are also a lovely experience! The apartment is conveniently located near other picturesque towns that are highly worth exploring. Norman was a wonderful, kind, and very helpful host! He was always on call whenever we had questions and gave us great suggestions on what to do and where to eat in town. I would definitely stay at the Isle Sur La Sorgue property again if I were to return one day :)

The L'Isle Sur La Sorgue property was perfect for us as we explored Provence. It was very comfortable and the kitchen was great for cooking the dinners with the ingredients we bought at a multitude of purveyors in the Sunday open-air market. We didn't mind the chatter from the cafes or the pealing church bells, though a two-hour rock-and-roll concert in the Square shook the apartment's shutters. Norman, our g greeter, was terrific, helpful and friendly, and always available to answer our questions. AND, there was air-conditioning in the property which we hadn't expected, and a great boon during the 93+ temperatures the week we were in residence.

It was perfect.

Since our first trip to France and non-English speaking country, we felt more secure knowing that we had a representative nearby to give assistance if needed. We loved the apartment in I'Isle Sur la Sorgue, especially the location. Norman, our greeter, was excellent. The flat was a very clean and charming space in an older building, exactly the experience we wanted in France. Our week there was very happy.

I've been following the HIP blog for several months, and like your knowledge of the Paris scene. I was attracted by the foto of the property and the availability timeframe suited our vacation plans. The property much exceeded our expectations, both in quality and location. The email connections from HIP gave me confidence that all would be smooth when we arrived. The greeters were excellent, helpful and knowledgable with the surrounding countryside. It was an excellent vacation and I would highly recommend your services.

It was a pleasure to work with the Haven in Paris staff. They were helpful, professional and on top of things. Isle Sur La Sorgue was relaxing and picturesque . . . amazingly well suited for our first exploration of the hill villages of Provence. The apartment is beautiful and comfortable. It was the ideal setting for a mother-daughter retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the heart of this quaint village. I can't imagine our trip without this wonder-filled week.

We are frequent renters in France and have seen a range of properties. We really enjoyed the apartment, the location in town, and L'isle Sur La Sorgue. I will recommend to friends.
