About
The Area

It's no surprise that the picture-perfect village of Montmartre has been the backdrop of so many well known movies, from Amélie Poulain to Midnight in Paris, and inspiration to many famous painters, like Picasso, Dali, Van Gogh and Monet to Toulouse-Lautrec, Mondrian and Pissarro. Winding cobblestone streets, romantic staircases, and hilltop vistas seem to have stayed frozen in time, and are at their most enchanting in the early morning hours or at dusk, when the crowds have dispersed. The tremendous Sacré-Coeur basilica represents Paris' highest elevation point and offers a crystal-clear view of the entire city. After you pay a visit to the basilica, other cultural must-sees include the Musée de Montmartre, the Éspace Dali, and the "I Love You" wall, found just behind the bustling Place des Abbesses. Get a taste of the neighborhood's ambiance while wandering the Sunday food and produce market on rue Lepic and rue des Abbesses or the emerging small businesses around rue Caulaincourt and rue Custine. Don't miss Muse Montmartre and its charming owner, Majid, on rue Burq for a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, Coquelicot for Sunday brunch, Cuillier Café for fresh-ground coffee, and L'Epicerie des Environs for all that is local and delicious. Rue des Martyrs, starting in Montmartre and finishing south in hip Sopi, is one of the oldest market streets in the city and has greatly evolved in the recent past. It now boasts the charming Café Marlette, delicious Rose Bakery, hip Kookaburra coffee shop, Pain Pain bakery, Neo T teahouse, Sebastien Gaudard pâtisserie, and many other delicious speciality food shops. Its warm, inviting charm only continues to grow and merits a stroll from top to bottom, and back. Staying in Montmartre, you're steps from hip SoPi, an easy metro or bus ride to the famous flea market at Porte de St-Ouen to the north, and an easy walk downhill toward the bustling Grand Boulevards, Opéra, and Madeleine neighborhoods to the south. The convenient metro will whisk you to any point within the city in no time at all.

We have stayed here 3 times and absolutely love this apartment. Greeter Evelyne great and has a recommended some wonderful places to visit in Paris and in the local area, excellent .

Iquo & Eddie August, 2016 NYC

Although I stayed back in August, it seems I forgot to leave a review. Here it is: This was my 3rd time using Haven and our 2nd time staying in this apartment. The view is magical! As usual, everything (service, staff, and accommodations) was perfect. I was also pleasantly surprised to receive a "repeat customer" discount. I plan to come back to Paris again and again and again. As long as Haven has apartments, I will always stay with them.

Montmartre was a new neighborhood for us to explore, and your apartment the most warm and welcoming base from which to do so. We walked one day to Marché aux Puces flea market, and, it being winter, found friendly shopkeepers ready to bargain and send us home with some treasures. Here in the 18th arrondissement, we loved the painting studio at Musée de Montmartre, the blue patisserie across the street, the Montmartre cemetery, the amazing little cheese shops, and the Moline fabric store. Peaceful nighttime walks up the hill to Sacre Coeur offered incredible twinkling views of the city below. Even as snowflakes fall, daffodils and violas and cherry trees are beginning to bloom at Luxembourg and Jardin des Plantes, and the street markets are bursting with fresh produce and flowers. All in all, a wonderful winter getaway. Many thanks to our wonderful greeter, Evelyne, and to the Haven in Paris crew for such an easy, efficient, and gratifying rental experience!

Robyn and Scott December, 2015 New York

Had an amazing time staying at the Abbesses. The team at Haven made all the details so simple and were happy to help and answer any questions. We were greeted by Evelyne, the sweetest person, who oriented us with the apartment and the neighborhood. She gave us places to go, where to shop, what to do....we even bumped into her at the Magasin de Poissons! The neighborhood is wonderful and busy, mostly locals so you had a great feel of an actual french neighborhood. Apartment itself was lovely and the view......incroyable!! As others mentioned, you do need to flush the toilet a few times, but its like that in most places in Paris. Keep in mind that the elevator is very tiny, fits two small people without luggage and the stairs are circular so its a great walk up if you are fit.....but by Paris standards, its so nice to even have an elevator!! Also, So easy to cook as the kitchen has all you need and you can shop for delicious fresh fruits, cheeses and breads all in walking distance to the apartment (three delicious boulangeries within 3 blocks!!). We will return to Paris again very soon and not wait 20 years this time!! Thank you Haven and your wonderful team!

Susan September, 2015 Montauk, New York, USA

This is our third or fourth time in this apartment. We love the views and the comfort, the small balcony for sipping an aperitif, the wonderful food shops on Rue Lepic, the well stocked kitchen. We love eating out and cooking in. We love walking down the hill to the center of the city and we love that there is a Metro Station across the street and another two not far away. Evelyn, our greeter was wonderful once again. When we come back to Paris, it will be to an HIP apartment--a larger one if our daughter joins us, this one if it is just my husband and I.

James & Jennifer Ruddy September, 2015 Rockport, Maine

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Abbesses apartment. The apartment is very comfortable and well situated in the center of Montmartre close to dozens of excellent restaurants and shops, and just across the square from the metro. The views of the Eiffel Tower (and the rest of Paris) from the kitchen/dining area are incredible. The apartment is well appointed with everything guests need. Good storage space in the bedroom. The daytime activity in the square below the apartment is fun to watch and everything quiets down at night.

Margaret S. July, 2015 Leichhardt, AU

The apartment was perfect for our needs - the cleaning, equipment, etc were of very high quality. Our greeter, Evelyn,e was delightful, on time, extremely helpful, and she is a treasure for your company. Many thanks to you all.

Anita & Glenn June, 2015 Saint-Lazare

We had the best experience in Paris and it was due to Evelyne our greeter who became our friend during our stay. She made everything easy for us with shopping advice, tourist advice & her love of the country. The apartment was fantastic, the location unbeatable, clean with up to date appliances. We will definitely stay here again when we return in two years for the airshow.

Sheila & Art April, 2015 Williamsburg, VA

We had a wonderful week - everything you would need in an apartment. Love the neighborhood - great food and people watching. Hope to be back someday!

My experience with Haven in Paris was excellent from the moment I emailed you to enquire up until this very moment when I am finally getting around to writing my review! Your emails were extremely prompt (always within 30 minutes) in response to any questions I had and you were very thorough in your explanations of the properties and sending testimonies from other guests. All the information you sent to us regarding how to get to our apartment was excellent. We were met by the nicest woman at our flat and she showed us how to use everything in the flat. She also helped to orient us to the area we were staying in by pointing out places to eat and where to buy groceries. There was also a large binder with information about things to do in Paris and places to eat. We were particularly grateful for the maps that were provided and that she used to explain how to get around Paris by bus or by underground. Her knowledge about museum opening hours was also helpful. We ended up going to the Louvre for our first evening! The apartment had everything we needed for our week stay and was extremely comfortable. The view from the kitchen was incredible and the fresh flowers and wine were such a welcoming touch. A perfect start to our honeymoon! Thank you so much for your excellent service. We had to find an apartment to stay in Rome after our stay in Paris and that experience was much less enjoyable and actually quite annoying to sort out. The quality and service that you provide makes booking easy and quick. Not a lot of time go back and forth between options. Every option with you seems to be great! Thanks so much. We will be sharing your site with friends and family and look forward to staying with you again.

Kathryn Allen December, 2014 Arlington, TX

The apartment was lovely. It had a neighborhood (non-touristy) feel, and was very well situated near 2 Metro stops.

Larry September, 2014 NY,NY USA

Computer could stand replacement. Could not find pot holders and dish towels . Evelyne was very helpful. Owner might consider grab rail in bat/shower for safety. Our stay was lovely. Nous aimons Paris . And R. Lepic! And HIP

Iquo September, 2014 NYC

This is my second stay with Haven and I definitely plan on using them again in the future. The reservation process was easy and all of the staff were friendly and thorough. The apartment was lovely, impeccably clean and well-stocked. The wifi was excellent (one night I was able to stream a Netflix movie on my iPad!). A previous reviewer complained about the computer, but I felt it was adequate for what I think the average visitor's usage would be. The view was amazing! The pictures on the site don't tell the full story of that amazing view! This is the fifth apartment I have stayed in during my Paris trips, and this one was definitely my favorite because of the view. The location is great in regards to shopping (food, clothes, books) and the Metro. The only drawback about the location is for visitors who plan to use Velib. I love biking in Paris, and in past visits I have only walked or biked around and skipped the Metro. I do not know if it is because of the hilly location of Montmartre, but the bike rental station directly across from the apartment was ALWAYS empty. If a bike was returned, it was gone within five minutes. Not only that, pretty much every station in the area was empty (or would have one lone broken bike). We used the bikes only twice and finally gave up because searching (going from station to station) took way too much time. I love biking around Paris, so I missed that this trip, but at least I was able to master the Metro!

Kirby Drawbaugh June, 2014 Seattle usa

The apartment, the location, everything about the rental was excellent. But our greeter Evelyne was without a doubt was the highlight of the trip. This was our 4th apt rental experience in Paris, the 2nd time in Montmartre, so had definite expectations. All expectations were met or exceeded. As wonderful as the apt was there no doubt in our minds your greatest jewel is in your greeter Evelyne.

Don Davidson June, 2014 Glen Waverley

In regard to expectations, this was our second stay in Abbesses. It was exactly as remembered. Our favourite place to stay in Paris. we could move in permanently. HIP is a smoothly run professional outfit. Our only suggestion for improvement would be a water jug for the refrigerator to provide chilled drinking water from the tap. Unconnected but also to do with water the so-called water saving Paris toilets can require up to 4 flushes to clear. Water-saving? Really? In summary Abbesses is so close to perfect, it's fabulous.

Kate K. May, 2014 Liverpool, England

We have returned from our wonderful stay in Abbesses! The apartment is a delight, beautifully outfitted, not a thing out of place, all top quality! In such a fabulous location as well - I envy the ladies who own it! And Evelyne was lovely and very helpful.

Donna S. May, 2014 San Jose, CA USA

This was our first experience with an apartment rental——our only other experience has been major hotel chain condo rentals in Hawaii …but this far exceeded our previous experiences. We were absolutely delighted and impressed with the Abbesses property, location and amenities and the attention to every detail——I would have to say that we felt entirely at home immediately and greatly appreciated having all the basic essentials at hand (espresso pot!, water boiler, cooking foils, parchment paper!!(we are amateur chefs and like to cook fish en papillote), paper goods, coffee, teas, rice, pasta, salt, olive oil and other items which make it easier to just begin to shop for fresh produce, and meats & fish ). The apartment was spotlessly clean and modern---great location to navigate Paris and we were surrounded by neighborhood specialty food shops, not to mention some of the best boulangeries in all of Paris. — We cannot find anything that could have been improved! Our greeter was lovely, professional, helpful, efficient & on time. We will be sharing information about Haven in Paris with our friends…and more importantly, look forward to returning again to our Abbesses Haven!!!

Grace C. May, 2014 Shorncliffe, Queensland, Australia

We very much enjoyed our recent stay in Abbesses. It is beautifully presented with a spectacular view that made us want to stay in every night and just enjoy! Evelyne the greeter is a treasure as well. We will be sure to recommend you.

Tom Peters April, 2014 Santa Monica CA US

The photos used on the site are accurate when it comes to the apartment interior but the views from the windows and balcony was an unexpected treat. Our greeter Evelyn was wonderful and gave us a thorough orientation. One issue upon arrival was the drive from the airport. Apparently Laurent was using a new driver and we didn't get picked up and had to pay for an expensive taxi ride. To his credit, Laurent had an excellent driver, Sylvie, pick us up for our return trip to the airport at a discounted rate. Evelyn recommended a child care person named Maria to look after our daughter Ellie one afternoon and evening. Maria was so perfect we wanted to bring her home with us! Our stay was amazing and we would highly recommend Haven in Paris to friends and family. Thank you!

Catherine A. March, 2014 Australia

We totally loved our stay in Paris, it was the first time outside Australia that we have ever used an apartment instead of a hotel. Must admit, a little unsettling after 24 hours of travel and over tired to realise that there was no room service:), but after a quick explore and a good nights sleep, it was wonderful. I would probably recommend maybe a small bakery basket/ or the opportunity for the guests to pre order some food that is available on their arrival, just to get them started. Evelyne was a fabulous greeter and very thorough in her knowledge of the area and how to get around and recommendations for food etc. The apartment was very clean with small touches such as fresh flowers which were beautiful. The driver how picked us up was OK, but on our return trip to the airport he had organized for another driver, Jean Pierre, who was much friendlier in his approach and continued to point things out to us and answer questions. We also used Tasty Side of Life tours for a day trip to Champagne which we thoroughly enjoyed. We totally loved our stay and would definitely use your service again, as a matter of fact we may be going to London or Italy within the next few years so hopefully you will hear from us again. We have already recommended your site to a friend who will be travelling to France in September.

eustacia su November, 2013 portland, OR

The apartment is a great place but, if you have 4 people, privacy is not a priority. We love the location. The appliances work well and the kitchen equipment is great. The shower has surprisingly good pressure for being on the 5th floor, but, as is usual with European plumbing, the bathtub ledge does lead the water over to the floor. The bakeries, greengrocers and specialty shops along the street are wonderful for buying supplies. The metro is close.

Shirley & Jim October, 2013 Seattle

We have visited Paris many times but until we discovered Haven in Paris had always stayed in a hotel. No more. Following our positive experience with this incredibly organized and responsive company we are convinced that one’s own little pied a terre--an apartment--is ideal, especially when it is as well appointed as The Abbesses, the lovely spot we enjoyed high above the city and bustling Montmartre neighborhood. Every transaction with Haven in Paris was exceptional. While we were impressed by quality and detail of the website, we did not expect that every contact with the ladies at Haven and every email response to a question reflected the detailed organization, responsiveness, friendliness, and perceptiveness that one hopes for from a company but rarely receives. They have mastered the art of quality customer service. We departed for our stay in Paris with no worries, confident that everything was in place for our stay—and it was. We never had questions or concerns because they had addressed everything before hand. Brilliant. We will always use the services of this fine company. Specifically with regard to The Abbesses apartment, we were constantly besieged by picture postcard views from the windows: people spilling out of the Metro and the dome of the Sacre Couer at one end of the apartment and the entire city laid out before us at the other. There were constant photo opportunities—just from the apartment: one evening a full rainbow crossed the sky above Sacre Coeur and then there is that nightly show on the hour when the Eiffel Tower sparkles. (We were, in fact, so impressed, with Haven in Paris that it wouldn’t have surprised us if they arranged that light show just for us!) The stylish and comfortable apartment had everything we needed--and things that we had not even realized we would need, including relevant reading material there for our enjoyment. It is wonderful that the building has a small but efficient elevator. There is an award winning (really!) boulangerie directly across the street. The metro is convenient as it is just 100 feet from the door to the building. We found that the double glazed windows work extremely well in blocking out the sound from they busy neighborhood during the night hours (although our stay was during the cooler fall months, so that could be a challenge in the summer.) There are numerous cafes in the area—some better than others. We found Miroir, a fine restaurant just around the corner, to be the very best quality place for dinner in the immediate area. We highly recommend the G7 taxi service suggested by Haven personnel as an efficient alternative to the Metro and buses in Paris. Finally, we highly recommend David’s Paris Luxury Taxi Service for transport to/from the airport. He is marvelous! The Abbesses was a wonderful place to spend our ten days in Paris, and we look forward to future stays in other properties handled by Haven in Paris. They are quite simply The Best.

Debbie Krejci September, 2013 yorba linda, Ca. USA

Our experience with HIP was extremely easy and very informative from the beginning to end. The Abbesses apartment more than met our expectations. The area was great, I couldn't have picked a better location to stay in Paris. The apartment had everything we were told it would and more. There were cafes and restaurants all within walking distance from the apartment, yet very quite at night to sleep with your windows open. I would recommend HIP to anyone looking for an apartment to stay. If we ever decide to rent an apartment again we would definitely use HIP.

Michele September, 2013 Australia

Tonight is our last night in your apartment that we have called home for the last 5 nights ! This has given us a taste of living in Paris , a place to come home to after exploring the streets and icons of Paris. We have truly enjoyed our stay , the apartment is more than 5 stars as we say in Australia " everything that opens and shuts ". The attention to detail, even down to the kitchen equipment and the arrangement of the books , which my wife has thoroughly enjoyed particularly the Stephen Clarke novels and his quirky slant on the Parisians life and idiosyncrasies ! I was thrilled to find a computer ! Please never ever move the windows in the kitchen ! But the best part of the apartment was the view, we could have sat for hours either day or night just looking at " the tower " it is just mesmerizing ! The location - location - location is spot on! Transport , food and shops all at your door step ! We are sad to go but will cherish our photos and memories of the past week ! Maria, our greeter, was excellent she was at the unit right on time as well as the driver Laurent, Maria went through all of the units facilities and did not rush ! We hope to return one day and would recommend Haven in Paris to anyone coming to Paris. Thanks to all the people behind the scenes , Maria our greeter and our drivers Laurent and his colleague who drove us to the airport . See you later as we often say in Australia

Jennifer Kent August, 2013 Diamond Beach,NSW,Australia

We have stayed in Paris many times and what a wonderful surprise to walk into a beautifully presented and clean apartment with amazing views. The location was fantastic and it really was a haven to return to at the end of the day. The location was excellent with restaurants and shopping all within walking distance. The information and services given by HIP were exceptional. I will be using their services for all my future holidays.

Joy August, 2013 Canada

We were greeted immediately in the flat by lovely Evelyne who then proceeded to introduce us thoroughly to the flat, the services, and the neighborhood. Evelyne went so far as to help us find a Doctor and a pharmacist. What a beautiful apt. in an excellent area of Paris! We used this space for a 10 day girlfriend getaway and now I can't wait to go back with my husband.

Brad & Lori July, 2013 Calgary, Canada

Everything is great with the apartment, neighbourhood and our experiences in Paris so far. Evelyne, our greeter, was charming, chic and patient given our travel worry state upon arrival. We are so glad we chose this property and the services of Haven in Paris.

Chris Hoffmann June, 2013 Adelaide, Australia

The moment we walked through the door, we saw the view from the kitchen and were blown away to see the entire city before us. Views of the Eiffel Tower were phenomenal.

Susan June, 2013 USA

Working with Haven in Paris was easy and we loved the apartment. We enjoyed looking at the Eiffel Tower from the kitchen and onto the main street of Montmartre from the balcony on the other end of the apartment. We could cook in or dine out at one of the many restaurants within walking distance. The apartment was fully stocked and the towels and linens were of high quality. Having a washer and dryer right in the apartment was a nice feature also.

Faith & Mike D. June, 2013 Columbus, OH, USA

Thank you very much for a lovely, homey week in Paris. We had a good time eating out but our best meal was an omelet right here! We'll be back...

Felicity R. April, 2013 Sydney, Australia

I thoroughly enjoyed Paris and the apartment was delightful. It was clean and well maintained generally. Your photos on the website gave me an accurate impression and I was not disappointed by the gorgeous view. Evelyne (my greeter) was helpful and very informative. The cleaner was quite thorough. I found the experience dealing with the HIP team very professional and welcoming. I look forward to renting the Abbesses apartment again in the future.

Carol S. February, 2013 Winchester UK

For one week this was far too short a time and we will definitely return to this wonderful apartment. Evelyne was really helpful and we followed all of her suggestions.

Karen F. December, 2012 San Diego, CA

Christmas at the Abbesses apartment in Montmartre - perfect! As others have written, staying here feels like "home" for the lucky few who come to stay a while. We walked through the neighborhood on Christmas Eve to buy all the fresh ingredients for a spectacular Christmas Dinner - the highlight of which was the Boeuf Bourguignon. We woke to the beautiful bells of St. Jean and walked the charming cobbled streets of Montmartre. Eglise St Pierre was just the right place to be, then back to the apartment to spend a most special Christmas Day. Thank you, thank you for creating such a "haven" in Paris.

Stephanie November, 2012 New York, USA

Our family of four stayed at the Abessess property in the Montmarte area. The experience was wonderful. The rental process was very easy and the representatives @ Haven were very helpful. The apartment was beautiful, and the view was amazing. The apartment was well equipped, and the greeter was wonderful, on our first day she sat down with us and outlined the best places for our family to visit especially because we were traveling with young children. The Montmarte area is very easy to get around, lots of great shops and close by to several metro and bus lines. If you want to feel like you are a true Parisian, even for a short time, this is the perfect area to be in. We've already recommended HIP to several friends because it was such a positive experience, much better than we anticipated.

Rachel Bailey November, 2012 UK

We stayed in Abbesses for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon in November 2012 and I can not fault Haven in Paris or the property. We loved "living" in Paris and feeling like locals. We had a view of the Eiffel Tower, a gorgeous kitchen, lounge and bedroom with balcony. The property was immaculately clean, very well equipped and the welcome flowers and wine, much appreciated. Our greeter met us at the apartment, gave us lots of really useful information and was available to help us the whole time we were there. Just wish we could come back every year!

Paul & Amanda J. October, 2012 Australia

Thank you for a beautiful apartment - the view of the Eiffel Tower twinkling at night is a memory to treasure forever. The Abbesses apartment is a gem. Thank you to Evelyne for your wonderful suggestions.

Larry September, 2012 New York/New York/USA

Gorgeous panoramic views of Paris, Sacre Coeur. Despite overlooking busy Place Abbesses the double glazed windows keep it quiet. Very near food markets at R. Lepic which allowed us to make good use of the very well equipped kitchen. A wonderful place to stay in Paris.

Anne R. August, 2012 Queensland, Australia

Every aspect of the Abbesses apartment was great. We couldn't find a fault with anything. Evelyne, our greeter, was also terrific. On arrival she showed us how everything in the apartment worked and how to reach and use public transport. She also made recommendations about places to eat nearby. On leaving, there were no hassles at all. This apartment is worth every cent for the high quality apartment and the amazing view. I will definitely be recommending it to friends who visit Paris in the future.

Jason N. August, 2012 North Canton, OH

My wife and I had the absolute BEST time while in Paris! The apartment was a large part of that. It was the best way to travel. What an experience to live among the people in Montmartre. We have absolutely fallen in love with Paris and the 18th Arrondissement. We were treated so well from the second we arrived. Strangers greeted us with smiles and even through our broken French loved the fact that we tried to speak only their language. Your recommendation to use Allison and Complete Paris was icing on the trip because it made plans so easy, we just showed up or went with the driver and there was no hassle. I have done nothing but brag about your agency as well as our experience since I've been back. We are already planning our next trip to Paris and will be there this summer or next at the latest. Either way, we WILL be booking with you all. Thank you! As far as the apartment goes, things were perfect. The flowers were beautiful, the wine was nice, the view could not get better, and there was plenty of everything. We loved being able to open the windows and take in the sounds and smells Paris. We had two boulangeries outside our windows basically so the location was superb for breakfast. We came to be friends with the owner at the cafe next to our apartment and he even gave us free drinks one night as he so graciously took interest in us and our stay. We frequented there each night after we got home from our travels as he was open into the early hours or morning almost. The breeze in the apartment was a great alternative to A/C. We just threw open the windows and took in the world around us. Other than our little electrical scare things were splendid! Evelyn, our greeter, was FANTASTIC! She took the time to show us everything in the apartment of course but also to show us places we should absolutely go and tips on how to avoid the gypsies and being pick pocketed: she showed us bus routes, metro lines and stations, good places to eat, and where the supermarket was on the map so navigation was easy.

Melanie G July, 2012 CA, USA

We want to thank you for offering us a wonderful place to stay for our Paris adventure. From the moment we arrived, we (and our kids) were taken by the views of the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur, as well as the lively neighborhood. The binder was thorough, and full of valuable recommendations. The orientation by Evelyne was excellent, and really enhanced the choices we made during our stay. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

Marie & Steven May, 2012 Australia

A beautiful apartment in a district that is far enough away from the teeming masses in a city that is all you might wish for. Thanks for an experience that was vivid, weight gaining, and made us want to come back again and again.

David & Erin L. March, 2012 San Francisco, CA, USA

Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay. Staying in the apartment was amazing and Christi made sure anything we needed was taken care of. Walking throughout the neighborhood was a highlight of the trip. Big thank you to everyone on the Haven in Paris team and all of their help to make sure our trip was perfect. Next time we come to Paris we will definitely be staying in the apartment again. Thank you for a memorable vacation!

Melissa L. March, 2012 Chicago, IL USA

The Abbess apartment is outstanding. You are right in the thick of things, but in your own private home. The Abbess apartment is now known to friends and family as "our apartment". The views are not like the pictures on the website... they are better, because they are real. But what the pictures can't capture is the sights and the sounds and the scents (fresh baguettes at 7 am wafting into your bedroom window) of Paris. We missed Paris the second we got in the cab to CDG and we still do and this in no small part due to our beautiful apartment in Paris. Evelyne the greeter was fantastic. We felt so comfortable knowing that we had a friend, not just in Paris, but in Montmatre, her neighborhood.

Melissa M. February, 2012 Burlington, Canada

We had such a wonderful time in Paris & absolutely loved the apartment. It was perfect in every way & Evelyn was a lovely & informative host. We hope to come back one day!

Susan Whitbread October, 2011 Canberra, Australia

The Abbesses apartment was just perfect for my two-week stay in Paris largely designed around an intensive French course and getting to know Paris more deeply than the usual tourist haunts. And just as perfect were the service and support from the Haven in Paris team. From my first tentative inquiry, to my arrival very late on a Sunday evening, nothing was a problem. Everything was explained in a way that even a “control freak” like me couldn’t fault. Late changes and additions were easily and quickly responded to. During my stay, I wanted for nothing—the location, the facilities, beautiful decoration and above all, magnificent views from both sides of the apartment! Oh, and the detailed instructions to make sure that any small "foibles" were just that, and not major problems. A special thank you to Evelyne for meeting me so late at night—and giving me the opportunity to practice my French on arrival!! And for readers—the Abbesses apartment must have the best collection of books about, or set in, Paris that I’ve ever seen anywhere. For more details, please see my blog at www.roadmoretravelled.blogspot.com.

Susan B. August, 2011 Australia

We had a fabulous time in the Abbesses apartment - in a nutshell - it is the epitome of true Paris. Everything you could ask for and in the best spot ever! Evelyne is a delight and couldn't be more helpful - she covers everything! The flat and all its fittings etc. were sparkling clean; it was very comfortable with cleanliness. Thanks again for all your help in arranging this rental for us.

Esther & Mark Warner August, 2011 Worcester UK

We cannot speak highly enough of not only the apartment we rented but the quality of service we received from Haven in Paris. No query was ever too much trouble and replies to our emails were always swiftly responded to. We really felt as renters we came first in every respect by all the staff. The apartment itself was amazing. In a superb location with magnificent views across the city, it could not have been better. It is very well appointed containing everything you need for an enjoyable stay; the ‘library’ of Paris themed books is a wonderful touch. The kitchen and bathroom were particularly well equipped and the abundant quantity of towels was very welcome.

Sydney Low August, 2011 Melbourne/Vic/Australia

This is our second property from HiP in 2011 and it was smooth and simple as the first one. Knowing the whole greeting and checkout made it even easier. Helping us out by storing our bags while we went out of Paris for the weekend between checking out of the first property and getting into Abbesses was really nice and helpful. Similar comments for Abbesses as for Carnot: put shower curtain up to minimise water splashing out; need a way to tie-back on all the windows; a carafe for wine would be nice in Abbesses; a Nespresso machine like Carnot would also be nice.* On the greeting process, we exchanged emails with Mika at Carnot and made arrangements to call her mobile when we arrived. We also exchanged emails with Evelyne for Abbesses but she didn't pick up on the last ones so we just rang and rang and couldn't get her. We then rang Mika who suggested we read the email/PDF instructions which, to our surprise, had the building entry code and said that our greeter would be waiting inside the apartment. Sure enough, we punched the code in and Evelyne was there! Lesson learned: Read the emails. Suggestion: To avoid possible confusion, emphasize to your customers to read the email!!! Even a 2nd-timer customer needs to be told again.** Thanks for helping us really enjoy Paris in 2011. Missing it already. Syd, Kim and family. *HiP Note: We are currently working with the owner for the shower curtain and tie-back for the windows. **HiP Note concerning information in emails: We encourage our guests to read all of our emails carefully, as we do include important information in our correspondence. We will take this suggestion to heart as we continue to evolve our email system.

Chandra July, 2011 Harlingen, Texas, USA

We had a fabulous stay in Paris at the Abbesses apartment. The Abbesses is my dream Paris apartment. It is absolutely beautiful and for me you can't have a better location. Evelyn our greeter was wonderful and was very helpful during our stay. We are already planning our next trip to Paris and we will definitely want to stay at the Abbesses apartment again.

Don Davidson June, 2011 Melbourne/Victoria/Australia

HIP lived up to good reviews. We rented 4 apartments in Paris for periods of 7 to 12 days. We are currently in the second of these, another HIP property. Abesses was probably the one we had least expectations for, but it was perfect for us on this occasion and greeter Regina was charming and helpful.

vera June, 2011 Pennsylvania, USA

The apartment was very clean with nice decor and well furnished with linen, appliances, etc. We didn't do any cooking, however, we did use the washer and dryer. The dryer took a long time to dry anything (about 120 minutes). I did use the comforter located in the bedroom armoire which looked like it should have been laundered. I assumed someone used it and put it back (like I did) and the cleaning person was unaware it was used. The view was spectacular and the location was great. Our greeters were very thorough and helpful. I have already recommended Haven in Paris to my friends as the rental was great, the rental process was very easy. and everyone I dealt with from Haven in Paris were extremely helpful. Thanks for making my vacation in Paris a pleasant experience. Note from HIP: Thank you Vera for letting us know about the comforter. We will have it laundered, and will have the cleaner be more vigilant and check it between every visit.

Wendy D. May, 2011 Breakfast Point, Australia

We had a wonderful stay in the Assesses property. The location is terrific and it was terrific to be so close to everything. Evelyne as very nice. She was very helpful in giving us hints about how to get around and where to go. The property was very clean when we arrived.

Kazuko C. May, 2011 Los Angeles, CA USA

We have had an absolutely magnifique, délicieux, formidable, and tres tres bon time in Paris! We found our apartment just absolutely charming and have enjoyed Montmartre very very much. The neighborhood is so vibrant and interesting. We hope to return some time in the near future and we will definitely recommend this wonderful place to all of our friends. Merci for everything!

Stephanie B. March, 2011 Evanston, Il

Our stay was very enjoyable and all was well. The greater was knowledgeable and friendly. I have recommended the apartment and your website to a number of people.

Deborah March, 2011 Ontario, Canada

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Abbesses. Evelyne is unimaginably appropriate - pleasant, intelligent, willing to help if there is any problem, etc. You will never find a better "greeteuse" in greater Paris. It was a real pleasure to see her again. She is a find!! She's actually a specific reason why we love Abbesses. Her knowledge of Montmartre and le tout Paris is profound; and her pride in the city is perfect - never too much, never gushing - just right. She is especially adept at sensing whether one wants the usual "big attractions" (tour Eiffel, le Louvre, etc.) or prefers some of the smaller, less visited musees et quartiers. And she's quite flexible. Perfect. Un 10! The bed's very comfortable and the linens and pillows are all up to grade. Helene did clean while we were out and did a fine job!

Peter & Marla February, 2011 Tempe, AZ USA

We had a wonderful time and have such fond memories of the Abbesses apartment. We could not have asked for a better Paris experience. The views from the apartment were awesome, and the bed was very comfortable, which was important to me as I have problems with my back. We went to many of the local shops to get our food, and desserts. The apartment was so close to the Abbesses Metro stop, and of course the full view of the Eiffel Tower from the dining room was awesome. Be sure to watch for the Eiffel Tower light show on the hour after dusk as it is magical to say the least. The rental experience from the Haven In Paris (HIP) team was the best I have received. They answered any and all questions we had, and were available during the trip if we had any questions. Evelyne our greeter has a wealth of knowledge of the Montmartre area. The flat was very well kept, clean, and Evelyne explained how everything worked. Evelyne also gave us many recommendations for local museums, cafes, and even though the only museum we took in was the Louvre we look forward to coming back to see many other sites and one or two other museums. Andy Waters (HIP)is an excellent driver, and was waiting for us at CDG with sign in hand, a first for me. Even though our flight changed terminals Andy was aware of it and was there to greet us. I would highly recommend Andy to anyone.

Ward and Maria Ogden December, 2010 Putney, Vermont

From the earliest emails to make a reservation to the ride to CDG with Marc, the taxi driver you recommended, we felt like the quality of the service was excellent. Our greeter, Evelyne, was charming and very helpful. And the flat on Rue des Abbesses was delightful to come home to each day...truly a "Haven in Paris."

Louise Nowotarski November, 2010 Victoria, Australia

Haven in Paris are a extremely efficient rental service. They provide a wonderful amount of support and information for you to have the most enjoyable stay. Our apartment was a delight. The view from the kitchen/dining table was unbeatable and made going out at night impossible as we had the whole of Paris before our eyes. French cheese, the best baguette in France (bakery just up the road) french red wine, and a dazzling display of lights on the Eiffel Tower in the distance, what more could you want? Despite the cold, we still managed to have the time of our lives in the most beautiful city, Paris. Thanks Haven in Paris for such a great stay.

S. Selle November, 2010 Boca Raton, FL USA

Thanks to you, my 16 days at the Abbesses apartment, I had one of my best trips ever to Paris; and I have visited Paris over 20 times and stayed in numerous apartments as well as hotels since 1985. You can thank Rosa Jackson for referring me to your company ( I have been following her for many years since her 'food page' in Paris Notes and she has always led me in the right direction). Your web site sold me, especially the view from Abbesses. It also made me stay in another neighborhood from my usual left and right bank areas near the Seine, and I now love the Montmartre area. It was especially good for my brother and sister-in-law who were newcomers to Paris and therefore not quite so overwhelmed on their 1st trip. You run a great business, very professional. The apt. was extremely comfortable from beds, linens, and towels to more than ample kitchenware, and use of a computer. Would have loved to have cooked more but I had to keep trying all the recommended restaurants in the area. By the way, your 'huge notebook' was extremely informative and useful. The apartment. lacked NOTHING! Helen did a wonderful job of cleaning, and of course, Evelyn was perfect as a greeter, always close by to help. I highly recommend HIP to anyone that really wants to see Paris as a Parisian, as I will definitely be coming back myself.

M & R Burt October, 2010 Saint Michaels, MD

We love this apartment. This was our second visit to this apartment and we hope to return again next fall. Evelyn, our greeter, is terrific. We've done the touristy things in Paris, and she had some excellent suggestions about things to do this time. Our pick-up at the airport and return went smoothly. We love having the computer in the apartment. A big plus because we can check our emails and stay in touch with family. The apartment is really well equipped. Everything we needed was in the kitchen and bathroom. I love the selection of books.

Chris Jerram October, 2010 NZ

We have already recommended the Montmartre property to friends...it was completely magical with its beautiful views. Evelyn our greeter there was fabulous , warm and enthusiastic and a wealth of knowledge.

Jane Nagano October, 2010 Cairns, Australia

A warm welcome with explanations of the apartment and the area. Well laid out apartment, all essentials and more already there. Subway line station 50 metres from building.Lovely bohemian area with great cafes and restaurants. A truly amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. All complemented by a company that is efficient, honest and takes the time to care. Renting holiday apartments can be hit and miss but this excellent.

Patrick, Erika and Mateo Mbaya September, 2010 South Africa

Being able to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in Paris was a dream come true. We found HIP very reliable and efficient with constant updates and quick feedback on emails and the photo's posted on the website where a good reflection of the reality. The Abbesses property was ideal for us (especially travelling with a toddler). The view is breathtaking - I still miss it being back home. It was a joy to be able to sit on the balcony and experience "Paris". We often made use of the excellent bakeries "just downstairs". We will definitely consult Haven in Paris when making any future trips and will recommend them to others.

Angela & Frank September, 2010 Canada

"The apartment was as pictured online -- with wonderful modern updates to the apartment while preserving an authetic 'Parisian' feel to Abbesses. Very quiet and a lovely retreat at day's end to watch the comings and goings on the street below. The location couldn't have been more convenient, with access to great shops, the metro as well as bistros at our doorstep. We will return."

Diana and Alistair Carr August, 2010 Warragul, Australia

We loved the Abbesses apartment. The views of the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur from the apartment and the wonderful sounds of music drifting up from the Place Des Abbesses were magic. The spotlessly clean apartment contained everything we needed to be totally comfortable and after travelling for weeks appreciated the washing and drying machines. The well stocked library was a great treat, especially the novels featuring Montmartre. Haven in Paris was a great company to do business with and made a real effort to check that all was well during our stay.

Eugene L. May, 2010 Sacrament, CA

We are having a marvelous time here in beautiful Paris. Even the cold and the single day of rain on Monday have not diminished our la joire de vivre. Quand nous sommes a Paris, la vie nous sourit. Evelyne is an absolute angel and kindred spirit. She is priceless as she shared her exuberant love of living in Montmartre.

Eugene L. May, 2010 California, U.S.

The rue des Abbesses apartment was « de première qualité ». The only suggestions to improve our vacation were to provide a door to door chauffeur and porter service, complete with a private chef for all meals. However, the latter would deprive one of the occasional meetings with local Parisians and the “joie de vivre” ambiance of the restaurants. Our greeter was Evelyne, who was the quintessential gracious hostess. Before she retires, clone her first. She provided an intimate knowledge of French culture, cuisine, and history as well as of the neighborhood shops and restaurants. She even knew the origin of the traditional hachis Parmentier French dish, and described how to prepare the dish! There are two types of people in this world: people who bring you joy when they enter the room and others, who bring joy when they leave. She brings joy when she enters. It was terrific that your team was always available through a free international phone service and email via the Mac laptop provided. I have already recommended your website to friends who are contemplating travel to Paris in the next two years.

Roger Burt April, 2010 St. Michaels, MD, USA

Another wonderful apartment with Haven in Paris. We loved the proximity to the Metro and shops. Will be back.

Suzi & Dan Maher April, 2010 Bellingen, Australia

Merci beaucoup, c'est beau! It is so hard to leave this - our little Parisian apartment! We love every minute. Things we loved the most: - angelic voices of the French nuns at Sacre Coeur singing the morning mass -tatin chocolat from d'Antan -onion tarts from d'Antan -being delighted at the end of each day to come home here, exhausted and ready for that two-person bath, wine and baguette under arm! We shall return, and we shall tell all our friends in Bellingen Australia! Other things we loved: -being understood when I practiced my French oh la la - the silence of the village throughout the night and early morning -the spectacular, mesmerizing view everywhere you look -the "froid et chaud" taps in the bathroom -having free phone calls to home! -the linen and all the comfortable details Merci Merci!

Angele H April, 2010 Atlanta, GA

First we must thank-you for your amazingly quick response (15 minutes) to our request as stranded travelers in Charles De Gaulle airport. You made being stranded by a volcanic cloud absolutely memorable. The property in Montmarte was well located, amazingly equipped with every thing to make our stay very comfortable; sumptuous linens, towels, a french coffee press, flowers. We were especially grateful for the superior internet connection. You can imagine that an unplanned extended stay threw our work responsibility upside down. Thanks again.

Celia March, 2010 Baltimore, MD

I've already bragged about Haven in Paris to everyone I know and intend on visiting. The Abbesses property was outstanding, we're trying to stay at other HIP locations now! Thanks so much!

Teresa March, 2010 Reno, NV

The Abesses apartment was just perfect for our trip. It was just my husband and myself so we really prefered a smallish place located near public transportation. The views were fabulous and the local restaurants, bakeries and pastery shops were to die for! We found the neighborhood charming and friendly and our greeter Evelyn a huge fount of knowledge. She took time to make sure we were adequately informed about the appliances, neighborhood and answered every silly question we had. She was one of our best memories of Paris. We aslo hired Andy Waters to drive us to and from the airport and he was so efficient, pleasant and friendly. I absolutely wouldn't change a thing except to have had more time in Paris!

Peter & Kathy Henry February, 2010 York, PA, USA

Another wonderful trip to our favorite apartment in Paris. We had a wonderful time despite the weather. Hope to come back.

Carey Kaplanek February, 2010 New York, NY, USA

We enjoyed our stay here very much. It is a beautiful apartment and lovely neighborhood.

Margaret Powell October, 2009 White Stone

This was our third year renting the Abbesses property from Haven in Paris. It's a small but wonderful apartment on a lively vibrant street. The view of the city from the kitchen/dining area is breathtaking. The apartment is located out of the tourist center, so you must take the metro or bus which is very close by. I recommend Haven in Paris to my friends because of their professionalism, attention to detail, and quality properties.

Paul & Amanda October, 2009 Australia

We loved staying at Abbesses apartment and hope to return again with our son and daughter next trip to France. This is our third time staying at a Haven in Paris apartment and have recommended them to our friends. We found Evelyne very helpful and we appreciated her warm welcome and great suggestions for places to visit which we followed up. We hope to see her again too. Thank you for providing such a wonderful place to "live" in beautiful Paris.

Roger October, 2009 Maryland, USA

This was our second rental with HIP and once again there was nothing to disappoint us. Our apartment in Montmartre was so comfy and ever so well equipped. We lacked for nothing. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a jazz band playing in the square across from us and then the lights of the carousel through the trees at dusk. Just magical? But magical was surpassed on the other side by a brilliant red sunset backlighting the city and the Eiffel Tower. As the sunlight faded the tower burst to light. The location was perfect on Rue Abbesses across the street from the Art Nouveau Metro station. (Complete with an elevator!) There are numerous cafes, restaurants, and shops of all kinds in the area. We lacked for nothing and everything was convenient. We feel we have just turned the first pages of Paris and will be back. And this apartment will be perfect for our return visits.

Amanda and Paul Jenkins October, 2009 Canberra, Australia

Our third Haven in Paris experience-- worth the trip from Australia to enjoy a "little life" in the most beautiful city in the world - Paris. Thank you for providing such a lovely apartment in Montmartre - tres jolie.

Julie Ellis September, 2009 Michigan

We were thrilled with the Abbesses property. Everything was perfect. We found the apartment to be extremely comfortable, with a spectacular view. We really enjoyed the neighborhood, as well. Wendy met us when we arrived and helped us secure a taxi when we left Paris.

Dana and Mitchell Rubin August, 2009 Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Our Paris experience was perfect in every way, and a lot of that had to do with Haven in Paris. Evelyn, our greeter, was extremely helpful. She advised us on transportation options, and gave us suggestions that only a Parisian could give, and beside all that she is a lovely person that we enjoyed talking to. I found Haven in Paris to be extremely accomodating in every way. The view from the Abbesses apartment was truly breathtaking, and we will be staying there on our next trip to Paris!!!

Lloyd August, 2009 Australia

Thank you all for your wonderful help in arranging our accommodation while Fiona and I were in Paris. I still find it incredible that someone in Australia can book a property in Paris from a company in the States AND have it work seamlessly all the way thru. Congratulations, this is without doubt the best structured internet rental company I have ever dealt with. The web site is immediately welcoming, totally informative and a visual treat. The people you have on the ground are charming and efficient. I met a good client of mine the other day, he knew I had been in Paris and told me he was off there with his wife and children next week, so I started to tell him about this great company I dealt with to find an apartment; I was about to tell him but at the same time he said.... "Haven in Paris." We then swapped "mutual satisfaction stories." The Abbesses was wonderful, such a "full of life" area. It was just fabulous to sit at the dining table and over-look all of Paris especially the Eiffel tower at night or to lie in bed and see the Sacre-Coeur lit up in the evening. Our greeters were very helpful. I look forward to the experience again! Warmest regards.

Michelle Carden July, 2009 Perth, Western Australia, Australia

The Abbesses apartment in Montmartre was a little slice of heaven. What a pleasure to come back to this cozy home after every jaunt. Listening to the live jazz music in the square, as it floated up to our balcony where we sipped on a superb bottle of red, and tasted an array of wonderful organic cheeses from the local market, matched with a piping hot, fresh baguette from across the street.... hhhmmmmm!

Kathy Pontus July, 2009 Edmonton/Alberta/Canada

It’s been two months since our stay in Paris and I wanted to make sure that I write something about how wonderful it was and thank the staff at Haven in Paris for making it possible. The Rue des Abbesses apartment and service we received were excellent and easily exceeded our expectations. We have wonderful memories of the view from the dining room table where we enjoyed our breakfasts of fresh croissants and baguettes and evenings with a bottle of wine. Our greeter, Evelyne, was welcoming and energetic giving us great insider tips to a city she loves. I would highly recommend Haven in Paris and look forward to using their services again.

Winifred deLoayza June, 2009 Albany, NY

We truly enjoyed the our stay in Paris, especially the Abbesses, it was truly wonderful. The apartment was very well appointed, spotlessly clean, well supported by staff and located so near to shopping and transportation it could not have been more perfect.

Joe and Melodee Halbach June, 2009 Fort Worth TX

My husband and I went to Europe for the first time in June 2009. We decided we wanted to visit Paris and stay two weeks to immerse ourselves in the culture. Our first contact with HIP was this website;it is absolutely the best one we found in our search process. From the initial reservation to recommendations while we were there, Erica and her staff were always prompt to respond to all of our questions. We were picked up at the airport by Andy -- also recommended by HIP. He was helpful, cheerful and fun... He confirmed that HIP was, indeed, the best Paris had to offer. The apartment exceeded our expectations -- inside and out! The pictures on the website are lovely, but cannot convey the beauty and comfort that it affords. The views are astonishing. One of our favorite activities was to watch the 'sparkling' of the Tour Eiffel on the hour in the evenings. We loved our visit so much that I asked Erica to recommend a jeweller: I wanted a ring. She recommended a young woman in the neighborhood whose designs were stunning. Every time I put it on, another memory recurs. We have decided that when we return, we definitely will come home to rue des Abbesses. ** note: The Jeweller is Beatrice Knoch and her boutique is located 17 rue Andre del Sarte (18th).

Suzanne May, 2009 Australia

Our home away from home in Paris could not have been any better! It was a lovely week spent cramming as much of Paris in as possible returning each night to our little Abbesses appartement. It was so good we mostly ate at home taking advantage of the wonderful selection of boulangeries, etc just in the street below. I would love to stay here again, but would also like to try out other haveninparis properties... merci merci merci.

Peter & Kathy Henry May, 2009 York, PA USA

Our stay at the Abbesses apartment was fantastic. It started with the online property description - the number of photos and the Google Maps link made me feel familiar with the apartment and the Abbesses neighborhood long before we arrived. The location is just wonderful. We loved being able to walk to all the markets. That is just so great! We had music from the park which was so much fun. The apartment and furnishings are just as described and pictured on the website. We were very pleasantly surprised at how well-equipped the kitchen was. In other European rentals we felt like the owners had gone "cheap" when it came to equipping the kitchen - this was absolutely not the case here. We are both cooks & we had everything that we could have wanted. I had brought some basic spices & found them in the cupboard in the apt. You really thought of everything. Evelyne's (our greeter) introduction to the apartment and the neighborhood was thorough. Everything you need in Paris is literally steps away from this apartment. We have only been back home for a couple of weeks and already we're making plans to return. There was a problem with the clothes dryer during our visit but the washer did such a good job extracting the water from our clothes that they were dry with just a couple of hours of hanging in the apartment. (**Note from HiP: the dryer has since been repaired.) One suggestion that I'd like to make would be to add a grab bar near the bath tub (on the wall end away from the faucets). The floor seems like it could be slippery and the step from the tub/toilet area down to the main floor just adds more risk of a fall.

Josepha April, 2009 USA

I would like to say that I had a remarkable experience at Abbesses. The apartment is in a phenomenal location with a wonderful atmosphere! It was such a relief, and really pretty exciting, to have a little apartment overlooking Montmartre.

Suzanne and Dan M. April, 2009 Australia

The apartment here is really great, fantastic location with wonderful views, lots of room for two and all we need, it is lacking nothing. Our greeter was really lovely and spent over an hour with us introducing the apartment and then telling us about all sorts of places to visit. We must congratulate you on your service, your attention to detail and your professional presentation, it is absolutely world class. You deserve the gold medal! We will recommend your service to all our traveling friends and family and will certainly contact you again when we are coming to France. Thank you thank you thank you.

Cynthia W. April, 2009 Chicago, USA

We had a wonderful time again at the Rue des Abbesses apartment - we would recommend it to anyone and have given your website to many friends. Our greeter was wonderful and handled all our needs for help - her perspective both as a neighbor and a French person was refreshing. The bathroom is absolutely stunning. We appreciated and enjoyed all the books! The attention to the details of comfort and taste which is a trademark of yours is very much evident here - from towels, linens, dishes, etc to the architectural details of the work in the bath and bedroom. We’ll be back - it must be as many as 10 years or more since we started renting from you!

Roger April, 2009 Washington, DC

The apartment was fantasic. After we stayed in the property, we spent a few nights at a fancy hotel that we thought would be a splurge for our last weekend in Paris, but the apartment was far superior. Great location, great space.

Laurel March, 2009 Seattle, WA

The apartment was beautiful and well-located, the greeters were helpful and the week I stayed at the Abesses property was my most comfortable in any large European city ever! I certainly did not want to leave when it was time to go... My stay was so fantastic that I even recommended it to the person sitting next to me on the flight home (her very expensive hotel was a letdown).

Lindsay Williams February, 2009 Washington, DC United States

It was the most amazing place to stay. The apartment is cozy, charming and made us feel right at home in Paris. The views from both sides of the apartment are outstanding. Honestly, our favorite place in all of Paris was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking wine and watching the city. That kitchen table is where my fiance proposed to me. We had so much fun shopping at the markets and cooking our own food. I just cannot say enough about this place. Loved it.

Maryann, Stewart, Annabel & Cameron January, 2009 Sydney, Australia

We have had the most marvellous time in this gem of an apartment on rue des Abbesses. Our time in Paris has been the crowing glory on an eight week holiday in Europe with out two children aged 11 & 14 year old. The apartment has such a warm spirit as does the village. The kids have given their French a work out and done most of our messages and errands in the village. They have loved the independence and we have all felt so at home. Evelyne's recommendations were all wonderful; Saint Chappelle, Cluny & Jacquemart Andre most charming.

Rebecca & Matt January, 2009 Melbourne, Australia

Thank you for a wonderful place to call home - we've had a simply magical two weeks. Our days here have been happily lost to exploring skinny side streets and the pretty boutiques, galleries and parks that they hold. Montmartre has provided a beautiful and quirky backdrop to our Paris adventure and we will always remember it fondly. Thank you Evelyne for your warm hospitality - you're a delight.

Rebecca Conning January, 2009 Melbourne, Australia

We had a truly magical time in Paris and our HIP apartment was central to this. The indulgent furnishings and tranquil ambiance made 'rest days' an absolute treat. The surrounding streets of Montmartre provided many visual delights and hours of happy pottering. Our greeter, Evelyne, was a delight and her visit really energized us after a long flight prior to arrival. We will certainly return to our home away from home in the future. In the interim, we can relish many happy memories.

Fans of Paris December, 2008 London

This is the fourth time we have stayed in this property so I guess that speaks for itself. It's comfortable, well equiped and excellently located. It is also warm - which as we stay in winter with little kids is crucial. Highly recommended.

Kathryn & Dylan December, 2008 Adelaide, Australia

The apartment was absolutely better than words can describe. The apartment itself was as good, if not better, than the photos on the website; the view from the kitchen was simply 'magnifique' - it was as if we were living in a movie! The whole rental experience was trouble-free - from the on-line booking, the meet & greet with the wonderful Evelyne who took so much care to ensure we were fully at home and took the time to guide us around the neighbourhood and to suggest lots of interesting places to visit and things to do, the furnishing, the exquisite linens, the well-appointed kitchen, the extra little touches of umbrellas and market trolley...... and much more. From our window it seemed that all Paris was at our feet and with the Metro only a step away everywhere is easily accessible. Having said that, we did spend many, many hours in Montmartre & thoroughly enjoyed the life in a Parisian 'village', the traiteurs, the cafes, the croissants(!) and I can honestly say that I'll never stay in a Parisian hotel ever again. I can't think of anything I would change in the apartment - it suited our needs perfectly. And I would certainly recommend both the apartment and HIP to my friends, and would love to stay there again when I next visit Europe. The highlights of our visit were the jazz band playing in the square one afternoon; Evelyne's superb suggestion of lunch at the Mosque (you must try it!); Rue de Rosiers in the Marais; Musee du Moyen-Age; and the exquisite polar bear at Musee d'Orsay. When we left there wasn't a 'goodbye' but an 'au revoir'....................

Kathryn & Dylan Barrett December, 2008 Adelaide, Australia

What a wonderful way to enjoy Paris! The apartment is superb, the welcome from Evelyne and her attention to details was more then we would have expected (or hoped for) . No more Parisian hotels for us - only HIP from now on. We have been spoiled! Warmest wishes.

Dara November, 2008 Inglewood, CA

Great place! Absolutely loved it! Would definitely look forward to staying there again and will recommend the place to my friends. Evelyne was very kind and helpful. Thanks again and looking forward to my next trip to Paris.

Eating our way throughout France has been quite the adventure. The last week spent herein Paris has been absolutely amazing and unforgettable. This is a spectacular place to call our home away from home. From cooking some meals using fresh ingredients from the markets on Abbesses to washing dishes with a view of the Eiffel Tower lit up in blue, sometimes its been tough to leave this place to explore the city. Although the macaroons at La Duree and cafe/drinks at La Sancerre beckoned us to leave on a number of occasions. This is a gorgeous apartment and we hop to stay here again A bientot!

Margaret & Greg October, 2008 Virginia, USA

Once again, we had a wonderful stay at the Abbesses apartment! Evelyne (our greeter) was great - so friendly and informative. When we checked out, Wendy helped us and we gave her a couple of minor suggestions for the apartment. We just loved it and hope to be there again next year. Thank you.

Abigail Blake September, 2008 British Virgin Islands

The Abbesses property was wonderful and Evelyne (our greeter) was fantastic. Evelyne not only showed us the ins and outs of the apartment, but she took us on a tour of the neighborhood and introduced us to her favourite merchants and helped me to buy some new reading glasses. She also gave us some lovely suggestions for places to go and we were really happy that we followed her suggestions (Saint Chapelle, Jardins des Plantes). We could not have had a better introduction to the neighborhood. We loved the neighborhood. It has a really vibrant atmosphere and lots of great shops and restaurants. The fresh apple juice and farm fresh milk at the cheese shop Evelyne showed us were to die for and the picolo baguette at Cocoliquot is a must. It was fantastic having the metro right across the street. Given how busy the nightlife can be, we were very pleasantly surprised with how quiet the apartment was at night with the double glazed windows closed. No street noise at all. We are keen cooks and were pleased with the well-equipped kitchen and the laundry facilities were very convenient. Keep in mind that almost everything in the neighborhood seems to close on Monday, so plan ahead. But the Greek traiteur up the street was open on Monday and we were able to purchase a beautiful, ready-made Greek meal to take home. We highly recommend that you try it if you like Greek food. All in all, we were very pleased with the apartment, as well as with all the extremely responsive Havens in Paris staff.

Marsha September, 2008 Seattle, WA

I loved your property! Evelyne (the greeter) was great. She was very helpful and friendly. We actually went to dinner one evening, since I was in Paris alone. Thanks for providing a comfortable "haven" for my week in Paris! Your flat is certainly a gem.

Dave and Jan Edwards August, 2008 Cyprus

Hi all, It was our second stay in the area in the last eighteen months and we loved the appartment. The views are stunning- Eiffel Tower and the city one side and Place de Abbesses on the other with it's busy street life, cafes and buskers! Montmartre- where artists work away in their studios, where you can walk two minutes up the hill to get your fresh baguettes, where one of your nearest mini-marts is the grocers from the film "Amelie". Only five minutes walk to "Amelie's" café where we had lunch. A choice of over fifty cafes, bars and restaurants within walking distance. All in all another great stay in Paris.

Mary Feltmate August, 2008 Truro,Nova Scotia, Canada

We were delighted with the Abbesses apartment. Our greeter, Evelyne, was full of knowledge and enthusiasm about her beloved city, and very helpful, as were the many guidebooks in the apartment. She pointed out all the landmarks from our kitchen window, and had good suggestions for places to go and how best to get there. The apartment itself was spotless, but cosy and welcoming. With the fromagerie, boulangerie, patisserie, and other shops selling fresh produce within a couple of blocks, we enjoyed cooking our own meals - thus experiencing French food without the exorbitant French restaurant prices! In the morning, we took our coffee onto the balcony and listened to the music from the little square across the street. In the evening the windows on the other side gave us a view of the city with the Eiffel Tower straight ahead, lighting up the night sky. The Metro was literally steps away, so although if you look at a map, you may think Montmartre is too far from the city centre, it was easily accessible, and the Metro is very easy to get around on. It really did feel like a haven, our home for the week, and so much better than a hotel! I would definitely book through Haven in Paris again, and we all (myself, husband and 25 year old daughter) agreed that if we were looking for an apartment in Paris, we would want something like this one.

Brian Gorman July, 2008 Sydney, Australia

We loved our apartment at Abesses. It was a dream come true stay in Paris with such a comfortable place and fabulous views. Our greeter, Evelyne was amazingly generous with her time and treated us like family. We are already working out how we can get back to Paris and stay with HIP again. We're telling all our friends in Australia and the US to use HIP - so easy, so professional - fantastique!!!!

Kylie and Alvaro Torres May, 2008 Newport News/VA/USA

From start to finish the stay was perfect. We enjoyed the apartment stay mostly because of the view. The view of the town is so much better than the pictures. The location of the apartment was great as well within walking steps to a metro stop very close to everything. Nice shops at your finger tips with all of the best Paris has to offer and an award winning backing just a few steps away. I really do not think that you can get a safer location in Paris we never felt uneasy there. Having the elevator in the apartment was great after a long day of walking. A new MAC laptop computer was recently installed with very fast internet speed and no trouble logging on that was nice to communicate with work, family and friends. Also the unlimited calling to the US was such a plus. The one phone card we bought to call Venezuela for my husband was 10 euros and didn't last that long so it really saves you money and puts you at ease that you can contact your family whenever you want. I am very picky and am a neat freak and I would say there is not any place in Paris close to being this clean and nice. I can not say enough good things about the staff, the apartment and the staff this is the way vacationing should be!!! Go Haven in Paris when in Paris!

Susan May, 2008 California, U.S.

I had a wondrous time - no complaints. Kyra and Evelyne were great. In fact, I will be going back to the Abbesses apartment in 2009. Thank you so very much - I felt that my week stay was like staying at home. I'm telling everyone about the Abbesses apartment and Haven in Paris.

Paul and Amanda Jenkins April, 2008 Canberra, Australia

We really enjoyed our stay at Abbesses and already have intentions of staying there again, hopefully this year. The views were magic especially at night having dinner in the dark watching the Eiffel Tower sparkling. Carrie has met us at 2 places now Livingstone and Abbesses and she has been very pleasant and helpful and readily returned our call when we have had any concerns. We have told our friends about Haven in Paris and we look forward to when we can return to our dreams again.

Preston Sacks March, 2008 Bethesda, MD

Erica and Carrie were wonderful. From the reservation process to meeting us at the apartment and giving us a personal guide to the features of the apartment they were superb. They organized a driver to pick us up at the airport and take us back. They were able to help us understand the neighborhood and local merchants, as well as help guide us through the sights of Paris. The apartment was fabulous. The bedroom had a view of Sacre Coeur and the kitchen overlooked the entire city and the Eiffel Tower. There was a computer with Internet and a phone with access to the US. Every night, after a day of fantastic day of sightseeing, we would metro back (the metro is across the street from the apartment) and visit the local markets and bakeries and come back to the apartment for dinner. The kitchen was well outfitted, and to have dinner overlooking the city and Tower was surreal. I would just have one bit of advice - rent this apartment through Haven in Paris! I can guarantee you it will exceed your expectations.

Steven Fuller February, 2008 Sydney, AU

We have just arrived back in Australia and wish to thank the Haven in Paris team for a wonderful stay in Paris. Rue de Abbesses was absolutely delightful. Great Parisian atmosphere and a view 'to die for'. Many thanks also to Carrie, our 'Greeter for her charming introduction and excellent attention to detail. We stayed for 25 nights and really felt at home the entire time! We shall not hesitate to recommend your services to other colleagues and look forward to staying in another fabulous apartment, under Haven in Paris management!

Pierrette Sevigny, Richard McConomy January, 2008 Montreal, Quebec, Canada

We stayed in the Abbesses apartment in early January of 2008. The apartment lived up to our expectations and beyond. We have been traveling to Paris annually for over forty years and this was the best trip. The area is busy but friendly, the apartment warm and user friendly. During our week, we only left the area once, to visit a friend. The eating, the shopping, the churches, the band in the park, the cable car (le funiculaire) to Le Sacre Coeur, the eating out, the eating in were all great. We had a dream week. Thanks to all the team.

Christi Garcia January, 2008 Indianapolis, IN, USA

This is a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Montmartre. The views were spectacular from the apartment and all the amenities were perfect. I would definitely stay here again and will hope to return in 2009, of course booking with Haven in Paris. Erica Berman is wonderful to work with and understands that service is all about exceeding the client's expectations.

Don and Keats Scott December, 2007 Heeney, Colorado USA

The apartment was fantastic - views from both directions. Montmartre was a great neighborhood for walking around and shopping. The DVD collection was interesting - movies taking place in Paris - it made us think of others - one being Victor Victoria. The giant bathtub was a real treat. We hope to come back soon.

Al and Judy Goldsmith October, 2007 Fernandina Beach, Florida

In October 2006 we enjoyed our visit to rue des Abbesses so much that we returned for a week this October. Everything was again wonderful from the greeting by Carrie to the world-class views. Some things, such as the new bathroom, the remodeled kitchen and the free telephone service, were even better. And the Abbesses metro, which was closed last October for repairs, was now open making the Place des Abbesses even more vibrant. We hope to return again next year. Al and Judy Goldsmith

Greg and Margaret Powell October, 2007 Virginia, USA

We absolutely loved the Abbesses apartment and had a wonderful 2-week stay there. Thank you for everything. The apartment was perfect in every way and greatly exceeded our expectations. We have rented apartments before from other organizations and have never experienced such thoroughness and attention to detail as we did with Haven in Paris. We were extremely pleased with the car service you recommended from the airport and back. One of the highlights of our stay was the delightful day with Eric and his Cooking with Class. Our greeter, Carrie, was delightful and helpful In the apartment, the internet access was great during the strikes for access to train and metro line information. Finally, the telephone was a big help during a health crisis at home with one of our pets.

Spencer-Zavos Family September, 2007 Kensington, MD

As the days drift into autumn and jobs, school and business consume us, I reflect back on our summer and our week in Montmartre. It reminds me, there is rejuvenation. Looking out the front window, a framed Sacre Couer, out the kitchen window, the Eiffel Tower and a spectacular view of most of Paris, one could contemplate never leaving this beautifully furnished apartment in the heart of one of Paris' most charming neighborhoods. But the lure of a freshly baked baguette, roaming the quaint stores that line the streets and stopping for an expresso in any of the numerous cafes brings us out. Don't hesitate to let yourself experience Paris and all that it offers from a place that is well stocked for comfort. The guest book has page after page of appreciation for what is a very special apartment in a very special city.

Marian Hyun September, 2007 New York, NY

The apartment, itself, was adorable. We loved our views of the Tour Eiffel and the dome of Sacre Coeur. It was great having the wireless internet connection because, unfortunately, I had some business to conduct with people back in New York. The bed was comfortable, and the kitchen was reasonably well stocked. Some of our most enjoyable evenings were spent buying food on rue Lepic, eating dinner in the apartment, and sitting on the sofa watching a DVD as we finished our wine. Carrie (our greeter) greeted us at the apartment, and she was great. She also made restaurant reservations at Guy Savoy for us (spectacular restaurant). She suggested l'Assiette and made the reservation for us--we had a wonderful time there. She was available by cell phone and always got back to us in a timely way.

Lynne Muirhead September, 2007 UK

For my birthday my sister treated me to a week in Paris at the flat in Rue des Abbesses. Excellent sister! Excellent flat! Excellent location! Excellent time! The flat was better than my imagination had foreseen. Extremely comfortable, well set up, and in a great location. Though Montmartre is of course incredibly busy, being 5 floors up meant there was no intrusive noise. The Metro was but a step across the street to start our journies to various areas of Paris and beyond. Handy for returning exhausted also. We ate and drank locally quite a few times when we were too tired to venture further afield after a day of exploration. There was plenty of choice to suit different tastes and wallets. The local bakeries had all the yummalicious bread and patisserie I required, with the bakers that had won the third best baguette in Paris award almost directly opposite. Raspberry and pistachio mille feuilles, or religeuses may not be the healthiest breakfast but I am sure the cake hounds amongst you can appreciate the thought. I neednt even have taken a holiday book with me for the odd quieter moment spent sitting in parks and squares. There was a varied and interesting range in the flat. I'd gladly go back again, and use the same flat or the company, but with many European cities still unexplored, it will be a while before I return to Paris.

Chuck and Ola Snow September, 2007 Powell, Ohio, USA

What a wonderful property and experience that we had in Monmarte in the Abbesses apartment. It was the perfect place for us to call home for 9 days. Our greater, Evelyn, was such a pleasure and spent just the right amount of time helping to orient us to all the apartment had to offer. She also spent time with us in the neighborhood showing us all the wonderful shops and restaurants within walking distance. She gave us great tips of what we must see and the easiest way to get to places as well. The apartment was so wonderful. What great views of the Eiffel Tower and the Sacre Cour. It was so refreshing and inspiring to wake up to such wonderful views. The apartment allowed for us to actually "live" while we were there. It was wonderful to experience the cheese, butcher and bakery shops everyday. There were so many wonderful places around the apartment to experience breakfast or snack before dinner. The extra attention that Haven in Paris gives their clients is so appreciated. Flowers, wine, travel books (no need to bring yours), novels to read, movies to watch and the computer were all great additions. We were so tired from sightseeing one night, we grabbed pizza and watched a movie. We can't wait to return to this wonderful city and apartment. Thanks to everyone that helped make our stay a vacation of a lifetime.

Nolan Willis June, 2007 San Francisco, CA USA

We had a great stay in a great apartment in a great neighborhood! We enjoyed the apartment immensely... Kyra, Evelyne and Erica were very sweet and helpful. We'll be back...

Fara R June, 2007 Texas, USA

We had a wonderful time in the apartment. It was a great location and the greeters were wonderful and very helpful. We will recommend this site to our friends in the future

Maureen & Corinne May, 2007 Massachusetts, USA

Corinne and I had a WONDERFUL stay in Paris and truly, after having toured all over, we realized that we couldn't have stayed in a better location. We loved Montmartre and the metro was so easy that we never felt removed or apart from the center of things. The apartment itself was just perfect for he two of us and we really started to feel like it was our home (which made it really hard to leave). Carrie, our greeter, was lovely and quite helpful too. I have already passed your website along to many of my friends. I'm sure that we'll be in touch again as I would love to return to Paris before too long and, when I do, I will start by checking availability with you. Take care.

Karyn Hutchinson May, 2007 Los Angeles CA USA

What a fantastic way to land in Paris! My husband and I felt immediately at ease in the neighborhood. such a comfortable flat, it was a pleasure to come "home" to after a day of out and about. Much time was spent with a cup of cafe or a glass of wine out on the balcony watching all the excitement below. I can't recall exactly how i came across the website, but as soon as I found it, it had all the information I needed: very descriptive with lots of photos. We are looking forward to returning to Paris.

L Cook May, 2007 England, UK

We had a wonderful holiday in Paris and the apartment was perfect. We really loved the fact that we felt like locals and not tourists every time we went in and out. It couldn't be in a better spot- surrounded by restaurants and shops and opposite the metro. It was great to cross the street for breakfast croissants etc every morning and we tried several of the restaurants you recommended in the evenings. It must have one of the best views in Paris and at night when the lights on the Eiffel Tower started to sparkle was magical to watch. Our trip was business as well as pleasure and we shall be returning in the not too distant future. Our only problem is going to be whether to stay at Rue des Abbesses again or try another of your apartments in a different part of Paris. Carrie, our greeter was at the apartment to meet us and was nice and polite and explained how everything worked in the apartment.

Sandy & Joe April, 2007 Vancouver, Washington USA

The apt. was fantastic and the way it is set up with the towels and dishes and books etc. it made our stay very comfortable. The view is what everyone wants when they go to Paris. And on the street side, it was great sitting with a glass of wine and watching all the people and listening to the music coming up from the square. The church bells ringing the time of the hour. It was perfect. Staying there made us feel like we were living in Paris and not just visiting. We travel alot and some times you come across places that are nice, but the price is so ridiculous it ruins the stay. The apt. is fairly priced and that makes the stay that much more enjoyable.

Heidi and David April, 2007 United States

This apartment was all that we'd hoped for. It was a 2nd honeymoon bliss. The decor, the location, the serene views were all wonderful. As we stepped out of the car our greeter was ready and waiting to help orient us to the amenities of the apartment. We felt very pampered. The apartment is beautifully situated close to markets, restaurants, the metro and has lovely views out of both the back and front of the building. All the rooms were creatively and tastefully decorated. We highly recommend this haven.

Kelly Mask April, 2007 Houston, texas USA

Abbesses was wonderful. It was so nice having a comfortable place to come home to every day. Carrie, our greeter, was great! She was already at the apartment waiting for us when we arrived -- with a vase of flowers and fresh pot of coffee to welcome us. What a nice gesture that was. She was "a l'heure" when it was time to go -- all ran like clockwork --Hopefully I can bring some friends back for next year's Marathon !

Deb B March, 2007 Northampton, MA, USA

The apartment is charming, the location is fantastic, Paris is wonderful. Haven in Paris have given us exceptional service and it has been a pleasure to rent from you.

Paula Murphy March, 2007 Northampton, MA, USA

Since our return from Paris, my partner and I have extolled the virtues of the Abbesses apartment to anyone who will listen. It was marvelous. From soup to nuts, all our needs and expectations were fulfilled. Kyra and Anne were friendly, attentive and extremely knowledgable about the city as well as the apartment. The apartment was charming and very comfortable. The new bathroom with it's enormous tub and rainhead shower was luxurious, especially at the end of a long day of exploring the city. The kitchen/dining room was bright and well appointed. The windows offered the most amazing sweeping views of the city. Having a phone (which now has free calling to the US) was very convenient. A computer with internet access allowed us to check out museum schedules and directions when needed. The bedroom was comfortable and cozy and quiet. The apartment truly was a haven for us. The location of the apartment made it easily accessible. The Abbesses metro is across the street and was recently renovated. There is an elevator up the 7 or so underground stories, so stairs are minimized. The Montmartebus leaves from across the street as well. Montmartre gave us a village atmosphere, within minutes of the hubbub of the heart of Paris. I recommend this apartment without reservation and commend the Haven in Paris staff for exceptional service and organization. We would return to this apartment in a heartbeat.

Peggy & George December, 2006 Lockerbie, Scotland

Wonderful views! The flat is so clean too. My son + I have loved every minute of our stay here.

M. Carew December, 2006 USA

And so we complete our second stay at this wonderful Haven on rue des Abbesses. cafe Bruant is our new discovery this time - and the Louvre - overwhelming. The people in the neighborhood REMEMBERED us from last year and we feel very much at home. The light, the Tour Eiffel outside the kitchen windows, Sacre Coeur peeking over the Post Office across the street. Such a wonderful place - thanks.

Ros Hughes December, 2006 New Zealand

The apartment at Rue des Abbesses was perfect. For four wonderful days we revelled in the elegance and comfort of 'our' Parisian apartment. The views from both sides of the apartment were magical. We watched the sun set behind the Eiffel Tower and, on the other side, saw the sun shine on the Sacre Coeur. They must be the best views in all of Paris. The iMac was wonderful and allowed us to keep in touch with family on the other side of the world. There was no need to go looking for an Internet cafe -we had it all there. We have stayed in apartments in other countries before but have never had someone ring us to check on arrangements. Erica really impressed us with her friendliness and her efficiency. After a couple of days we must have looked very much at home in the winding, cobbled streets of Montmartre - we were asked for directions to the Sacre Coeur in French! We all laughed when we gave ourselves away trying to reply in French. Kyra, our greeter, was wonderful. She was very pleasant when we rang to say we were held up at the airport. She was flexible and came back another time that suited us. She was most helpful explaining how things worked in the apartment and sharing her knowledge of Paris. She was an excellent, friendly, efficient, professional 'face' for your company. Would we return to Rue des Abbesses? We can't wait to return one day. Thank you for making our time in Paris so wonderful Thank you Erica. Merci beaucoup. R. Hughes New Zealand

Lynn Murray/Janet Gula November, 2006 Toronto, Canada

The Abbesses flat was warm and immaculate, spacious and cozy. Every thoughtful detail had been provided; from welcome flowers and provisions, to well organized books of information about the flat and the area. In the front hall there is a rotating library of fiction and a great selection of French guidebooks, maps and brochures. Seasoned travelers, especially, will appreciate all the organization and thoughtful provisions and preparations. First time travelers will be so spoiled, they will never be happy anywhere else! Both beds are comfortable and the linens are luxurious. The views of the city cannot be topped, from sunrise to sunset. The neighborhood was welcoming, with every convenience nearby. In the late afternoon the Place des Abbesses is an active and fun place to be, but by 10 PM all was quiet and serene. I have been traveling to Paris for nearly 40 years and have stayed everywhere from St Ouen to the George V. The flat on rue des Abbesses felt like home to me and I hope to return soon. P.S. Carrie (our greeter) was prompt, polite and very helpful, both on the day we arrived and again this morning, as we experienced a slight glitch with the pre-arranged airport pick-up and she solved it with a couple of phone calls. For us it would have been a huge problem to solve! The Abbesses flat turned out to be all that we hoped for and more!

Leanne and Rob November, 2006 Brisbane, Australia

Being able to see the roof of Sacre Couer from our bed and then the sparkling Eiffel Tower at night from the kitchen was terrific. It was also great to be able to enjoy our morning cafe et croissants (and evening vin et fromage) from our very own terrace. The apartment was spacious and well equipped, from fluffy towels and iMac with itunes, to English DVDs and books. Walking into Sacre Couer at 8.30am on the morning of All Saints Day and hearing the choir was very special. Erica's guide to local restaurants was fantastic!! We tried a number of the recommended restaurants and found them great - especially Le Restaurant Carrie (our greeter ) was very friendly. She was also attentive with calling half way through our time to see how things were going. Through this call we were able to fix our problem with internet access. We had an absolutely fantastic time in Paris. We will definitely be returning!

Lynn Murray November, 2006 Kleinburg, Ontario, Canada

The perfect vacation in the perfect accommodation in the perfect city! Thank you for all your thoughtful arrangements and provisions. In 40 years of visiting Paris I have never felt so at home, so relaxed. I can think of nothing more that you could add, you have thought of everything. Our last spectacular sunset bid us adieu and we are refreshed and prepared for winter in Canada - though eagerly planning a return to rue des Abbesses in the not-too distant future. Thank you again.

John & Dana November, 2006 USA

We, too, give you our compliments on the lovely apartment. Our stay in Paris was perfect - just not long enough! We hope to return to learn more about the city and to enjoy the diversity and excitement of Montmartre. Merci.

Al and Judy Goldsmith October, 2006 Fernandina Beach, Florida

My wife and I have been to Paris many times, and our October visit was perhaps the most enjoyable, in large part due to our stay in the lovely apartment on rue des Abbesses. This was our first stay in the 18th arrondissement and our first stay in an apartment in Paris. Everything combined to make this apartment and neighborhood truly outstanding. The booking process with Haven in Paris was the most efficient I have experienced. The information sent before the trip was exceptionally helpful. The Haven in Paris representatives who met us on arrival and departure were most helpful (and the bottle of wine and beautiful roses most appreciated). The neighborhood around the Place des Abbesses was great, with wonderful little shops for food and wine, and lively without having noise or safety problems. The apartment itself with its stunning views was the capstone of our great experience. We especially enjoyed the view at night of the lighted Eiffel Tower and its hourly flashing lights display. We have rented apartments in London, Rome and Tuscany and this apartment was the best equipped and most user friendly. Having internet and email access and a washer and dryer provided icing on the cake. Our only regret was being able to have the apartment for only four nights. We definitely want to return next year for at least a week.

Thomas Schwarz October, 2006 NY, USA

Each evening my wife and I returned to our apartment for a brief rest before finding a new restaurant or cafe for dinner. We'd sit on the balcony overlooking the park and the intersection, watching tourists check out shops, locals walking their dogs, shop-owners greeting friends, and bicyclists plying the cobblestone streets on their way to their favorite café. We'd eat the treasures we'd bought here and there all day, always with wine or coffee and the ubiquitous baguette. But at 8PM sharp we'd adjourn to the other side of the apartment and open the large dining area windows wide, the better to see the lady --the Eiffel Tower-- put on her diamond gown for ten minutes. It was a sight that never failed to thrill us, night after night. We would never vacation any other way again. The location of the apartment, the size and cleanliness, the decor and amenities were all perfect. The greeter, Carrie, couldn't have been nicer, more helpful or more knowledgeable. She exuded enthusiasm, which is the best way to begin an adventure. And we felt certain that had we needed to call her for assistance she would have jumped to our assistance. Yes, we will return. Yes, we have given your haveninparis.com address to many friends already. Staying in your rental was wonderful, and Paris was all that it is cracked up to be.

Brendan Grant October, 2006 Surrey, BC, Canada

This apartment was better than we expected, everything was perfect! The view is incredible and we lucked out with amazing sunsets. I have had various dealings with other Paris rentals, and most were difficult and confusing. My dealings with Erica were professional and easy. It helps to be able to talk to someone on the phone in the U.S. For the money, it was a very good deal. I had looked at 3 star hotels for this price and they don’t have an entire household setup like this! The bed is nice, new and very comfortable. The full kitchen setup was great. Little things like coffee and laundry detergent were included which saved us the hassle. The thorough information about the apartment, Montmartre, restaurants and sites made our stay carefree and easy. Kyra, our greeter, was friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the professionalism that Erica and Kyra gave us! Feel free to contact me via email about any concerns you may have, and regarding my dealings with Haven In Paris. I highly recommend Rue Des Abbesses or any other "HIP" rentals!

Maggie, Paul and Dari October, 2006 Cheshire, England

Where else could we have this fab view of the city? We've had a lovely time in Paris, seen the sights, eaten + drunk very well but it's always been great to return to rue des Abbesses + this cozy apartment. We shall return!

Sharad and Kanchan September, 2006 MI, USA

We were very pleased with the apartment and it offered everything you and your web site had promised. The location was great and the apartment was cheerful, cozy, clean, well-stocked and all the appliances, etc. were of high quality. It felt more like a home. We loved Paris, and do hope to visit again.

The Chapmans September, 2006 Belmont, Mass. USA

We just got back from our European adventure last Saturday. When we find ourselves describing the 6-week trip, we invariably highlight the view, location and the whole pleasant aspect of the apartment on rue des Abbesses. It is hard to think of anything that should be done to improve the quality of the place. It is exceptionally well-maintained and certainly very comfortable as a place to stay in Paris I'd say you have a near-perfect unit from our standpoint. We were extremely pleased with the apartment on rue des Abbesses, for a number of reasons. The apartment is very handsome and comfortable, highlighted by views out of both sides of the apartment that would be considered premium at any Paris hotel -- a spectacular panorama of the city on the south, punctuated by the Eiffel Tower, which sparkles at night. The view to the north is to the little square where the Abbesses Metro Station is located, full of Parisian street life, and up to the Monmartre hilltop, with the basilica of Sacre Coeur perched at the top. The neighborhood is vibrant and filled with restaurants and shops to fill the needs of our stay, reinforcing all of our positive preconceptions of Paris. The experience was amplified by the gracious engagement of the staff at Haven in Paris. We will fondly remember rue des Abbesses for a long time. Dawn and Perry Chapman Belmont, Massachusetts

This is the way to live and learn Paris. My sister and I were most at home and love the style and charm of rue des Abbesses. I was thrilled at the quality of the appointments and the location of the apartment. We will have such great memories of or first visit to Paris. Thank you for providing such a charming and warm home for us. I’ll be booking again with you.

Erin and Pattie Biller August, 2006 Scottsdale, AZ

La petite appartement on rue des Abbesses in Montmartre was just delightful. My mom and I wanted to experience Paris through the eyes, ears, and palettes of Parisians and rue des Abbesses provided an excellent backdrop that genuinely immersed us within the streets and people of Paris. Beyond the ever so chic and très mignon apartment that looks out onto a true treasure of Paris- the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur, and the butte Montmartre…, it’s the neighborhood that makes you really live and breathe Paris. You’ll desire real baguettes from the artisanale boulangerie, you’ll want to walk the well worn cobblestone streets (you might even enjoy the many stairs that envelop this district), students of French will feel warm welcomes to speak the eloquent native tongue, you’ll jog across the street to catch the metro with your carté orange, and finally what you will truly enjoy the most besides the views from the apartments many windows-- is your cozy seat in a café just off rue des Abbesses while you grab un express, or un vin and maybe a cigarette or two … We only offer a few words to the wise…if you’re off to the 6th for dinner and you want to fetch a cab make sure you know that it’s a walk to the stand—so walk in your comfy shoes to the Moulin Rouge... after you pop into the cab change into your heels babe! And don’t be afraid if late at night you hear a tender man serenading his lover—it’s just the couple next door to you, or down the street from you enjoying the beauty of life, the beauty of Paris.

Paris sings its beautiful song right into this apartment. Everyhing is perfect and the view cannot be truly represented on a website. You have made this feel like everyone's Paris if only for the time one is here, we can all dream. I especially love the painting of Sacre Coeur next to the window with the viw of the Sacre Coeur.

We have just returned from France and very much enjoyed our week's stay in Paris. Our apartment, Abbesses, was just as pictured on your site, except the view is even more spectacular! The apartment was charming and well furnished. We easily traveled all over Paris using the Metro and looked forward to returning "home" with our market produce and bottle of French wine for a relaxing evening. In the mornings we walked across the street to a fabulous bakery and returned to the apartment to enjoy our breakfast on the terrace. We remarked on many an occasion that we were so glad we did not stay in a hotel. We do not like to eat all our meals out and very much prefer a home environment. As an added bonus, we found the cost of renting an apartment to be considerably less than renting a comparable hotel room, especially when one takes into consideration the savings of opting for a few meals at home. We enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Monmartre, the charming bistros and boulangeries, but unfortunately we must report that it was very noisy at night. At first we dismissed this as "weekend noise", but it continued throughout our stay. Having read the guest comments on your site, no one else noted this concern, so we are hesitant to mention our experience. We feel it is probably the exception. That said, we were most pleased with our choice of renting through "Haven in Paris" and would not hesitate to recommend you.

The apartment in Rue des Abbesses was just the perfect place for us to rediscover Paris after a long absence for more than 15 years. I have been to Paris about a dozen times, but this was the best visit ever - even though it was very, very hot. But coming home from a long day of sightseeing, we could always count on returning to a cool apartment, with a balcony in the shade, a magnificent view to the the Eiffel Tower, and a charming neighbourhood just outside the front door; things that made the heat more bearable. I would like to mention all the nice features of the apartment. The furniture, the computer, the washing machine, the dishwasher, the elevator, and so on. Because there are so many. But somehow they all pale in comparison to a glass of wine at the kitchen table, when they turn on the Eiffel Tower illumination. Marvelous. After the traditional visit to the Sacre Coeur staircase one night, we all agreed that our view from the apartment was a little bit better than the view from Sacre Coeur. A statement that must seem absurd to anyone who has not been to the apartment, and yet it is true. Thanks to Kyra and Alain as well for a unique service. I don't know when we will be back. Soon I hope, and you just made it impossible to stay anywhere else. Meanwhile I will recommend only you and the Abbesses apartment to everybody who is going to Paris.

I am saddened to leave. We spent the last part of our three week honeymoon here in this most beautiful, comfortable, and friendly home. All was right with the world as we sipped our morning coffee from the balcony or drank wine while watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night. Just being in the apartment together was our most favourite part of Paris. We will forever remember it fondly.

B. Richard July, 2006 Savannah, Georgia USA

"The Apartment was wonderful as was Kyra's help during our stay. We are still having withdrawals from the 2 hour French lunches, the chocolate, the crepes, the breads, France in the World Cup final while in Paris..... In other words we can't wait to get back to France. The only complaint we have is a serious one. The photos you have on your website don't do justice for the apartment nor the view to the left as you first walk through the door. We were amazed at how incredible that view out the kitchen was, and even found ourselves getting up an looking out time and time again as if the city was not going to be there. We do intend to stay again in the future, no doubt about it. Thank you so much for the memorable Honeymoon "

We really enjoyed our stay in the Abbesses apartment. Everyone we dealt with at Haven In Paris was reliable and helpful. The apartment actually exceeded the expectations raised by the marketing. We got what you advertised and perhaps even more, from the spectacular view from the dining room window to the wonderful ambiance of Montmartre. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartment to friends if I ever get the chance. Thanks so much for being so helpful to a family that had never visited Paris before, too. All the written information you provided meant a lot to us.

C’était très formidable! Mais pas de minute de ecrit ! Claire est la, maintenant. Très bon !

We loved the apartment and the whole area of Montmartre. The restaurant selections in your book were fabulous! We were honeymooning this week and it was a week to remember! We hope to come back at the same time every year. Thanks,

We arrived on June 21, the solstice, by rented car (no mean trick for the novice), followed the instructions about getting a roast chicken at Chicken Family, opened the bottle of wine kindly provided upon our arrival, and began to relax. We had noticed the signs about the Fête de la Musique, and had negotiated around the musicians in black leather etc. Their amplifiers and instruments camped on the steps of the Abbesses apartment, but we didn’t really understand. They cranked up and played all night. Quel bruit! If we’d understood, we’d have gone out into the night ourselves, but as it was, we kept thinking they’d stop. I considered calling the police, my husband considered dumping water on them. Thank goodness we did neither. A rough start to a wonderful stay. The apartment is great, what a view! Merci beaucoup.

Jo and Jeff Gorman June, 2006 Brisbane, QLD, Australia

Great apartment and location with amazing views. Some highlights for us have been the Musée Marmottan-Monet, Musées Rodin and Picasso, Saint-Chapelle and the great Sunday market at Bastille. This is really a haven in Paris!

Lynn Drayzen and Brian Cistulli April, 2006 Londonderry, NH

My husband and I were fortunate to stay at your wonderful Montmartre 1BDR APT w/Eiffel Tower & Sacre Coeur Views on the rue des Abbesses. Along with outstanding views, the charm of this spacious Parisian flat made our visit unforgettable. The apartment was clean, comfortable and provided us with everything we needed. Our hosts, Erica and Alain, were hospitable, accommodating and helpful. We would recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a real sense of the Parisian active lifestyle. We would definitely stay there again.

Michele Sullivan April, 2006 Los Angeles, CA, USA

Our stay at the Abbesses apartment was perfect. We had all the comforts of home and could not have asked for more. The linens were soft, the beds comfortable, the neighbourhood welcoming and the views unbeatable. We feel lucky to have stayed here. Thank you for this wonderful apartment.

Melissa Martin April, 2006 Las Vegas, NV, USA

What an amazing stay in an amazing city. The apartment is everything I could’ve wanted and more. The views of the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur are unbelievable. My suggestion is to really walk this neighbourhood in many directions; there is something to discover on each street. Saint Chapelle is a beautiful example of stained glass. This was my first time out of the US and I hope to return someday with my daughter. Very well done. The amenities are first class and the apartment-flat- is pristine yet easy to be comfortable in.

Mary Zema April, 2006 Simi Valley, CA, USA

What an amazing place! It is magical, warm and inviting. The views are so fantastic it is tempting to stay home all day and allow your eyes to feast on the sights and movements. Thank you for creating such a lovely atmosphere. Even when one is on vacation it is so nice to feel at home. I feel so fortunate to have experienced all of this!

Janet Barnes April, 2006 USA

Thank you for having the vision and talent to create a charming and practical “home away from home.” You’ve covered the details with thoughtfulness and finesse. Paris is amazing!

Laura Catalano & Sylvia Bert April, 2006 Washington, DC USA

We love your home away from home in Paris! Your apartment is warm and welcoming, so cozy and beautiful. I hope you will offer it again as an auction item for the Mautner Project. We’ll tell all of our friends in Washington, D.C. and beyond to stay here. We couldn’t have enjoyed it more!

Ed & Lee Riddell / Cyd & Steve Martin March, 2006 USA

Thank you so much for sharing your absolutely wonderful apartment with us ! We loved the neighbourhood with its little food shops, and it was perfect being so close to the metro. A bientôt.

Wendy H. & Jon M. January, 2006 Derbyshire, UK

The Abbesses apartment was a comfortable and attractive base for a week's stay in Paris with our two small children. It was warm, clean and very comfortable and the view from the kitchen window was nothing less than spectacular. The kitchen itself was very well equipped and to be so near so many wonderful food shops was great fun. We would recommend it to anyone and certainly book it again.

Arthur Sorrell, MD January, 2006 California, USA

This is a late comment for a stay that we had back in January. What a great apartment. We loved it. Perfect location and lovely views. And just enough room for two people. Everything was as described. I'll definitely look into staying again on my next trip to Paris.

Heather December, 2005 Phuket, Thailand

The apt. matches all the comments completely! All I can add is don't bother bringing guide books or reading material regarding Paris, they have a tantelizing selection of books of which I made barely a dent!

Dan Maddux November, 2005 San Antonio, TX, USA

"The Abbesses apartment is a perfect place for everyone who is looking for the complete Parisian experience. The neighborhood has extraordinary conveniences, restaurants and shops galore, and the Metro is located directly across the street with quick assess to all Paris has to offer. Your very helpful hosts will help you settle in with a tour of the apartment, so that you and your guests can get the most out of your stay. The apartment is superbly well-equipped and the double exposure provides a picture postcard panoramic view, including Paris’ most famous and distinguishable monuments, buildings and museums, including the Eiffel Tower! You will marvel at the balcony off the living room as you look down onto rue due Abbesses and look up to see the cupolas of Sacre- Coeur. The kitchen and bathroom are masterfully appointed with everything that you need to feel like you live there. Whenever I stay at Abbesses, I feel like it’s my home away from home.”

Heather Barrett November, 2005 London, England

I stayed at this incredibly charming apartment and was seduced by how much value you get for your money. Not only do you have the best view I've ever enjoyed in Paris, but you also get a generous amount of space to unwind and relax. With hardwood floors and beautiful furniture you don't have to deal with any of the unpleasant stuffiness you get with even the nicest hotel rooms. The location is superb with the metro just a stone's throw out the front door - everything you could want on your doorstep. We spent many a night entertaining in the well equipped kitchen, gazing out at the Eiffel Tower and enjoying the feel of a real Parisian life around us.

Anonymous October, 2005 Landsdowne, VA, USA

This apartment was wonderful. Convenience is the key and Rue des Abesses can't be more convenient. From the metro across the street, to the awesome patisserie, news stand, grocery store, cafe and all kinds of different restaurants all within five minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider renting again. Alain, Erica and Francoise were great. All our inquiries were answered promptly and they were always avaialble. Thank you.

Kelly October, 2005 Houston, TX, USA

Imagine coming home from your daily Parisian adventure to a glass of wine while looking at the Eiffel Tower and other major monuments out your dining room window. It's positively breathtaking. The apartment is lovely, and very traveler-friendly with plenty of nooks, crannies and closet space to hide your clothing and even your luggage. The Abbesses metro stop is located in a park across the street, and this stop is one of only two surviving with the metal and glass roof over the "Metro" sign. An award-winning Boulangerie is across the street. A helpful agent of the apartment's owners greets you upon your arrival, and there are very well organized and thought out binders to assist you in figuring out the phones and e-mails, plus suggestions on where you can dine. The souvenir shops of Steinkerke street are just a short walk away -- and the entire neighborhood is brimming with Parisian charm. We won't stay anywhere else but Abbesses from now on!

Anonymous September, 2005 California, USA

We reflect, often,on our stay at the Abbesses apartment. Many of the previous guests have commented , most favorably on the apartment, its amenities, the spectacular views, the ambience of the quarter, and the helpfulness of Alain and Francoise. We heartily agree!-and the strongest evidence of this is we plan to repeat the experience. Montmarte is exciting because it is still a real, vibrant, working part of Paris, not merely a tourist attraction. We had the feeling there of the Parisa we experienced in other quarters many years ago. So for us much of the pleasure of staying at the Abbesses apartment was, that for a little while, we became inhabitants- not merely vistors to a big theme park for grown-ups

Anne Doran August, 2005 Brattleboro, VT, USA

I had the distinct pleasure of renting the Abbesses apartment for a week in August. First of all the setting was splendid with a stunning view of all of Paris from the lovely sunny kitchen. In the evening we enjoyed the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower and the beautiful Paris skyline. The view off the back from the terrace that spans the entire length of the apartment afforded us a grand view of the top of Sacre Coeur and the absolutely atmospheric square below. It was magical. There was always something happening below us. Musicians frequently played live music affording that extra bit of ambience one can only imagine. THe apartment is absolutely lovely with beautiful furnishings and ample supplies. Erica Berman was a perfect hostess and was organized, informative and available. The area in Montmarte was perfect particularly since we were celebrating my sister's wedding. Every guest wanted to spend the evening of her wedding in our apartment. It was one of the best settings imaginable.

Laura August, 2005 Boston, MA, USA

The Abbesses apartment is a beautiful, sunny space with a magnificent panorama of Paris on one side, and a terrace overlooking the Sacre Coeur on the other. The apartment is very comfortable--I slept extremely well in the bed, and enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen with gas burners and two different options for making coffee. It is an unusual luxury in Paris to have a washer and dryer as well as an elevator! The apartment came with a very comprehensive guide to the wonderful neighborhood of Montmartre and most everything a first-time visitor would need to know in visiting Paris. I already know Paris fairly well, but learned a few things--like where to rent a cellphone and the phone number of an excellent taxi service--the best I've ever used in Paris. Also, I can't say enough to recommend the renting agent, Erica . She is extremely efficient and conscientious, as well as friendly and well plugged into Paris life. I highly recommend this apartment.

Mary Lou Tucker August, 2005 Maryland, USA

Pictures don't do the view justice! The neighborhood and the Paris views from our kitchen window were spectacular. My 50th birthday was filled with views of the Eiffel Tower from my kitchen table and wandering Montmartre during the neighborhood Summer Solstice celebration with bands and merrymaking. The apartment is beautiful and equipped with every modern convenience. The neighborhood food and shopping were glorious, met every Parisienne expectation within walking distance, great food, wine and outdoor markets. Treat yourself to a really great vacation, rent this apartment.

Anonymous July, 2005 Bethesda, MD, USA

This apartment was all I could have asked for and more. The metro access is across the street and very convenient. Not to mention the great neighborhood! Eating dinner while having an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower at night can not be topped. I would definitely return to this property on my next visit to Paris!

Anonymous June, 2005 Deerfield, IL, USA

The Abbesses apartment was a delight to stay in. There was lots of neighborhood evening activity and great Metro accessibilty. The views were stupendous, especially when the Eiffel Tower was lit at night. All of the amenities a traveller could want were available in this bright, tastefully decorated apartment.

Maryland Lehmann May, 2005 Olney, MD, USA

Thank you for a wonderful visit and very, very lovely comfortable accommodations. the apartment was so pleasant to stay in and the sofa bed was incredibly comfortable! Claire and her assistant were very welcoming and the flat was spotless! I had dreamed of coming to Paris all my life (I am 70 years young) and it couldn`t have been more satisfying. thank you so much.

Chloë and Edgar, Andrea and Tennyson May, 2005 WH, Canada

Thank you for giving us a home away from home. We had a wonderful time exploring the neighbourhood and discovering the little treasures tucked in the small streets. We couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable stay. You have made our stay here in Paris ever more wonderful.

Donna Scarboro March, 2005 Takoma Park, MD, USA

My husband and I had a fabulous time staying at the Abbesses apartment in Monmartre. Although the neighborhood is lively (a real residential neighborhood), and the metro is just across the street, the apartment is quiet and serene. The light and views are extraordinary. The furnishings are elegant and the place is so clean and uncluttered, it will spoil you! Our hosts made us feel completely at home and made certain we were able to have the full use of appliances and computer. We got around every part of the city, and then returned home to revel in the unforgettable 180-degree view of Paris. It is both spectacular and restorative.
